Auto-battle in RAID: Shadow Legends is not a “lose on purpose” button — it is a tool that works exactly as well as you configure it. Here is how the AI picks skills, where skill priorities live, and which settings actually save keys, Clan Boss damage and arena nerves.
How the AI decides
In auto-battle a champion checks which skills are off cooldown and picks the one with the highest internal priority. If nothing fits, it falls back to A1. The AI does not plan for boss phases, occupied debuff slots, or the fact that the boss will strip buffs next turn.
Targeting follows its own rules: affinity, HP percentage, shields and debuffs — but no two-turn foresight. Auto-battle shines when the team and speed tune are already solved, and struggles where mechanics demand reaction.
The takeaway: skill priorities do not make the AI smart; they remove the worst options. That is often enough for stable farming.
Where skill priorities are set
Open the team screen, select a champion, and find the AI / Skill Priority block. Every active skill can be toggled on or off for auto-battle. A1 is usually left alone — it is the fallback.
Presets are saved per champion and can be switched per content: one for Clan Boss, one for dungeons, one for Arena. That beats diving into menus before every run.
Note: settings are tied to the champion on your account. If you change gear, masteries or speed, re-check the preset — an old setup can break a new tune.
What to disable first
- Turn meter boosts and fills — extra speed breaks a strict rotation.
- Heals and shields — the bot may heal at full HP.
- AoE skills against counterattack bosses — wide hits can backfire.
- HP-cost or self-damaging skills — the AI does not watch its own health bar.
- Weak debuffs — a filler debuff can block the one you actually need.
- Extra-turn effects — they shift the queue and desync buffs.
Presets by content
| Content | What is usually disabled | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Clan Boss | Turn meter, extra heals, extra turns | Keep the rotation and debuff timing intact |
| Dungeons | AoE on counterattack bosses, weak debuffs | Fewer wasted procs and more stable damage |
| Arena (defense) | Random provokes and filler skills | The AI will not improvise, but it will not waste turns either |
| Doom Tower and Hydra | Skills that hit the wrong target | Reduce the chance the bot attacks the wrong head or tentacle |
In Arena and Hydra, auto-battle remains a compromise: mechanics want manual target selection. Settings only lower the cost of a mistake.
Auto-battle pitfalls
The AI will not hold skills for a phase and does not know the boss will strip buffs next turn. It ignores passives triggered on hit and cannot tell a dangerous target from a safe one. Disabling a skill does not guarantee the right play — it only removes one bad one.
Another trap is “set and forget”. After gear, mastery or roster changes, re-check presets. One extra turn-meter boost can wreck a whole Clan Boss run.
And do not try to fix with settings what needs manual control: high Doom Tower floors, high-difficulty Hydra and Arena against a thoughtful defense usually want human hands.
Pre-auto checklist
- Confirm the team’s speed order matches your plan.
- Disable turn-meter boosts if they break the rotation.
- Turn off heals and shields the bot wastes turns on.
- Remove AoE skills on counterattack bosses.
- Check that a weak debuff is not blocking a key slot.
- Save separate presets for Clan Boss, dungeons and Arena.
- Run one fight manually, then compare with auto.
Summary
Skill priorities are the cheapest way to make farming more consistent. They do not make the AI smarter, but they remove actions that break timing, ruin debuffs and waste turns. Set presets for Clan Boss, dungeons and Arena, re-check them after build changes — and auto-battle stops being a lottery.
