Free Champions from Missions and Login: Who Is Actually Worth Building

Free champions in RAID are not a starter gift — they are the scaffolding your account stands on for the first few months. Missions and the daily login track hand you a limited pool, and the real question is not how many you get but which ones deserve level 60 and skill tomes. Below is the honest breakdown: who to build right away, who is fine at 50, and who goes straight to the vault.

What missions and login actually give you

The daily login track is a long line of energy, silver, shards and a handful of champions on specific days. Almost all of them are aimed at the first weeks: campaign, early dungeons, bronze Arena. Later they either drop into reserve or survive as narrow specialists for one specific job.

The Progress Missions chain is split into several big parts and constantly pushes you toward Arena, dungeons and account progression. Along the way you are paid in resources, but the main champion prize sits at the very end — and there is only one. That makes missions a months-long project, not an evening, and you should plan your builds with that finish line in mind.

Also remember that some strong "free" legendaries are not login rewards at all — they come from clearing content, such as Faction Wars. Still free, just slower.

Arbiter: the one undisputed "build now"

Arbiter is the final reward of the mission chain, and this is the rare case where a champion outranks anything you could pull. She is a legendary support with a Speed aura: she sets the tempo for the whole team, brings allies back from the dead and boosts the squad. In Arena she works on both offence and defence, in dungeons she is the safety net, and in Doom Tower and boss fights she provides the survivability young rosters lack.

Gearing is straightforward: Speed, Accuracy and enough HP/Defence to survive until her turn. Speed and Perception sets are the baseline. Tomes are not wasted on her — a legendary support of this calibre stays in your roster for years.

The only downside is the road: some missions require a functioning Arena team and stable dungeons, so your first months will be spent building interim champions just to reach her.

Your starter: Kael and the rest

Your starter is the one free damage dealer that always justifies level 60. Kael carries campaign on Brutal with poison, handles the early Clan Boss and helps on the first Spider floors. He needs Rare books, not legendary ones, which makes him the cheapest investment in the game.

Athel is tougher but hits softer; Elhain and Galek bring AoE and clear campaign faster but fall off against bosses. Any of the four is worth 60 while you have no real damage dealers — but do not pour legendary tomes or your best gear into them. They are the first champions to be benched.

Lydia The Deathsiren and other free legendaries from content

The most valuable "free" champion after Arbiter is Lydia The Deathsiren, awarded for clearing every Faction Crypt. It is a months-long marathon, but the payoff is a legendary support with strong control and buff removal who plays in Arena, in PvE and in boss teams.

The logic is simple: if you have already earned a champion like this, build them immediately instead of saving them for "someday". Rewards of this kind do not age out with patches, unlike random login epics.

Who from the free pool should stay at 50

Most login champions and interim rewards are bridges: they get you through campaign and the first dungeons, but they do not cover any endgame role. The rule is simple: level 60 goes only to a champion who fills a role nobody else in your roster fills.

  • No unique utility, just "more damage"? Level 50 and reserve.
  • Rare champions never get books — only campaign gear.
  • Epics kept "just in case" get no masteries until a real team exists for them.
  • A champion for one location gets built only when that location becomes a wall.

Resources in RAID are always scarce: energy, silver, tomes, potions. One properly built support does more than five level-50 champions who never see play.

Who to aim for instead, and the order to build in

The free pool covers the start, not the middle of the game. Once you can, look at champions who actually hold content down: Deacon Armstrong (turn-meter boost and debuffs, plays in Clan Boss and Arena), Godseeker Aniri (revive and support for long fights), Geomancer (damage through HP Burn on Clan Boss), Coldheart (boss damage in Spider and Clan Boss). These are not login gifts — they are summon targets, but they are the ones that change an account.

A build order that works:

  1. One damage dealer to 60 — your starter.
  2. One support to 60 — Arbiter or Aniri.
  3. Masteries for your Clan Boss team, not for everyone.
  4. Tomes only for champions who will stay in the lineup for months.

And the main point: the team beats the individual star. A free Arbiter in a proper setup delivers more than a legendary with no Speed and no Accuracy.

Summary

Only a few free champions last: Arbiter from missions, Lydia The Deathsiren from Faction Wars, and your starter until something better arrives. The rest of the login and interim pool is temporary — level 50, cheap gear and no books. Prioritise by role, not by rarity, and free champions stop being dead weight.
