Energy in RAID: Shadow Legends — Where to Get It and How Not to Waste It

Energy is the tightest bottleneck in RAID: Shadow Legends — it decides how many dungeon, campaign and boss runs you get through in a day. The good news is that there are more sources than most players use, and most "energy problems" are really spending problems. Below: where energy comes from, what content actually costs, and how to stop leaking the bar.

Every energy source that matters

Regeneration is the base; everything else just speeds it up. Order matters — take the free stuff first and spend gems last.

  • Regeneration. Roughly 1 energy every 5 minutes, so about 12 per hour. It ticks constantly until the bar hits your cap.
  • The cap. It grows with account level: a few dozen at the start, around 130 at high levels.
  • Account level-ups. Levelling up refills the bar completely. It is a free refill that most players forget to plan around.
  • Daily quests. The chest for completing all dailies contains energy — your most reliable source after regen.
  • Weekly and monthly quests. Bigger chunks, same idea.
  • Login rewards. Daily logins hand out energy from time to time.
  • Events, tournaments and CvC. Energy regularly sits in personal and clan milestone rewards; don't skip the mid-tier milestones.
  • Gems. The standard refill costs 40 gems and fills the bar.
  • One-off rewards. Campaign progress, first clears, event milestones.

What content actually costs

ContentEnergy per runNote
Campaign4–10Depends on difficulty: higher difficulty costs more per run but pays better
Dungeons (Dragon, Spider, Fire Knight, Ice Golem, Keeps)About 8 on low stages, 16–20 on high stagesLoot per energy improves with stage
Minotaur (masteries)Same as a normal dungeonThe real cost is the number of runs, not the run itself
Arena0Tokens, not energy
Clan Boss0Keys
Hydra0Its own keys

The cap and overflow: where the real losses are

Regeneration stops the moment the bar is full. Spending a whole day with a full bar means losing well over two hundred energy that nobody gives back. That leads to the main rule: log off with a half-empty bar, not a full one.

Energy from rewards can usually go above the cap and doesn't burn — but regeneration is paused while it sits there. Holding a permanent overflow is a bad deal: you pay in idle regen for a nice-looking reserve.

Account levels deserve their own note. If you are close to the next level, drain your energy to zero first and only then finish the XP. The level-up will fill the bar completely instead of topping up an already full one.

Gem refills: when they are worth it

40 gems for a full bar is an honest trade only when three conditions line up at once.

  • Empty bar. The refill fills it to maximum, so buying one at half a tank means throwing half of it away.
  • A concrete goal. Masteries through Minotaur, farming a specific set, closing out a tournament milestone.
  • An event. A refill during a tournament or x2 pays twice: you get the runs and the tournament points.

If there is no goal, hold the gems. Shards and books eat a lot of them, while "just in case" energy disappears into a random dungeon.

Where energy gets wasted

  • Farming low dungeon stages when higher ones are open: noticeably worse loot per energy.
  • Levelling champions in campaign on a low difficulty while a higher one is unlocked.
  • Running content you cannot clear reliably: a wipe is minus energy and minus time.
  • Endless team swapping "for luck" instead of one thought-through run.
  • Ignoring free modes: Arena, Clan Boss and Hydra cost no energy but pay out resources every day.

Six rules that save your bar

  1. One goal per session: either masteries, or gear, or campaign — not all at once.
  2. Before logging off, drain the bar below the cap so regen keeps ticking.
  3. Plan farming around a tournament or event so the same runs also earn points.
  4. Push your stage progress: the higher the dungeon stage, the better the return for the same energy.
  5. Don't buy a refill with an almost-full bar.
  6. Clear the free stuff first — dailies, Arena, Clan Boss — and spend energy after that.

Summary

Energy in RAID is not really about "not getting enough" — it is about where it goes. Keep the bar below the cap, collect the free sources (dailies, weeklies, events, account levels), buy refills only for a specific goal and stop farming low stages while higher ones are open. That alone gets you noticeably more runs per day without spending a single gem.
