The first 30 days in RAID: Shadow Legends decide whether your account grows smoothly or stalls in midgame with messy gear. Here is a practical 2026 route for a new player: no legendary chasing and no wasted resources.
Where to start: starter hero and first hours
Pick Kael if you want the most universal beginner: he clears campaign and helps on Clan Boss with poison. Athel and Elhain are fine too, while Galek is a narrower pick; changing your starter for “the meta” in the first hours makes little sense. The main rule is not to feed expensive books to a random hero and not to sell gear before you understand stats.
First hours: push campaign, claim free rewards and do not spend gems on random summons. Keep a reserve for energy and masteries. If you pull an accessible epic such as Deacon Armstrong or Frozen Banshee, you already have a good core for your team.
Campaign: the road to Brutal without waste
Your goal in the first days is not perfect gear but stable campaign progress. Follow the story, collect stars on Normal and Hard, then move to Brutal. Farm stages with useful sets or convenient food farming. Do not stay on one difficulty: higher difficulty gives better XP and silver per energy.
Do not spread resources across 10 heroes at once. Build 4–5 champions: starter, second damage dealer, support/healer and a debuffer. For example, Kael + Frozen Banshee + Deacon Armstrong already form a clear frame. Level others only when needed, not “just in case”.
Energy, daily quests and clan
Energy is the main limit for a beginner. Do not drain it to zero before sleep if you cannot log in in the morning; keep a small reserve for daily quests. Daily and weekly quests give gems, shards and books — that is your main income, not random drops. Spend your first gems on energy and masteries, not on shard packs.
Join an active clan as early as possible. A clan gives access to Clan Boss, clan quests and advice. Even weak Clan Boss damage is better than none: participation chests bring shards, books and gear. Do not stay in a dead clan just because of its name.
Clan Boss: first stable chests
In the first weeks, do not try to build an “unkillable” team — it needs specific heroes and exact speeds that a beginner does not have. Your plan is simpler: poison, HP burn, survivability and accuracy. Kael and Frozen Banshee are clear poison heroes; Geomancer brings HP burn; Doompriest helps cleanse debuffs and heal.
Accuracy matters on Clan Boss: without it, debuffs will not land. Put accuracy on poison and HP burn heroes where possible, and HP and speed on supports. Do not chase critical damage early: stable 2–3 chests a day are better than rare high damage. Plan masteries through Minotaur after you settle on your core team.
Dungeons and gear: what to farm early
Do not try to clear every dungeon at once. Start with Dragon: it drops useful speed, accuracy and survivability sets. Visit Minotaur for scrolls once you have a team that clears it reliably. Leave Spider and Fire Knight until you have decent gear and understand the mechanics.
Do not sell gear blindly: speed boots, accuracy on gloves/accessories and percentage stats (HP%, DEF%, ATK%) are almost always useful. But do not upgrade every blue item to 16: silver disappears fast. First take to +12–16 only the pieces that really improve your core team.
Arena, masteries and stat priorities
Arena is not about glory but medals and Great Hall. Build a simple combo: speed lead, decrease defence, damage dealer and support. Deacon Armstrong is an accessible epic who helps speed up the team and strip defence; Stag Knight and Madame Serris are also useful if you pull them. Do not chase top ranks: your job is to take medals consistently from clear opponents.
Level masteries through Minotaur once your core exists. Priorities are simple: speed boots, accuracy for debuffers, crit rate for damage dealers, HP%/DEF% for tanks and supports. Do not build a “glass cannon” damage dealer without survivability — in campaign and dungeons he will fall to the first hit.
Summary
In your first 30 days you do not need a collection of legendaries. You need a stable starter, a clear clan, daily quests, first Clan Boss chests and careful gear. If you have reached Brutal campaign, joined an active clan and started farming Dragon/Minotaur, you are already at a healthy pace. Do not spread resources, do not sell useful stats and return to dungeon-specific guides when you hit a wall.
