Glyphs are an extra layer of artifact enhancement in RAID: Shadow Legends. They let you add missing stats without changing the artifact itself. In this guide, we’ll cover how glyphs work, where to get them, and which artifacts to use them on so you don’t waste resources.
What glyphs are and how they work
A glyph is an item that adds a bonus to one artifact stat. Each artifact can hold only one glyph. Glyphs cannot be upgraded or leveled up — you get them ready-made. The glyph’s rank (1 to 6 stars) determines the bonus size. Key restriction: a glyph’s rank cannot exceed the artifact’s rank. So a 6-star glyph can only go on a 6-star artifact, while a 5-star glyph fits on 5- or 6-star artifacts. You can replace a glyph, but the old one is destroyed, so choose carefully. The glyph bonus is shown on a separate line and adds to the artifact’s total stats.
Glyph ranks and where to get them
Glyphs come in six ranks. The higher the star rating, the bigger the boost. Early on, 1–4 star glyphs are fine, but in the endgame you want 5–6 stars. Main sources: Glyph Keep, Faction Wars chests, events, and tournaments. In Glyph Keep, higher stages drop higher-rank glyphs, so farm the toughest floors you can clear. Sell useless glyphs for silver — it adds up over time.
Which artifacts to glyph: general rules
Glyphs are not unlimited, so don’t waste them on random pieces. Main rule: glyph artifacts your champion will keep for a long time. That usually means 5–6 star items with good substats. Don’t put expensive 5–6 star glyphs into 4-star artifacts — you’ll replace them soon, and the glyph goes with them. If the artifact ends up as trash, the glyph loses its value too. Also remember: one artifact, one glyph, so pick the most important stat for that champion. You can put any glyph on any artifact regardless of its substats — just match the rank.
Role priorities: who gets what
For speed tuning (Clan Boss, Arena), Speed is critical. SPD glyphs help you hit exact values, especially when you’re a few points short. Examples: Demytha, Maneater, Seeker — speed is vital for them. Debuffers need Accuracy: Geomancer, Fayne, Frozen Banshee. ACC glyphs help them land debuffs reliably. Nukers like Skullcrown or Acrizia benefit from ATK%, C.DMG, and C.RATE glyphs. Supports and tanks want HP%, DEF%, RES: Underpriest Brogni, Mithrala Lifebane. In Arena, speed and accuracy decide fights: Arbiter, Deacon Armstrong, Armanz the Magnificent. In dungeons, you often need speed, accuracy, and survivability — check each champion. Don’t be afraid to glyph champions you use in multiple modes: it pays off.
Mistakes and tips
- Don’t put 1–2 star glyphs on endgame artifacts — sell them and wait for better drops.
- Don’t ignore glyphs for breakpoints: sometimes +2 Speed changes the whole fight.
- Flat glyphs (HP, ATK, DEF) are okay early, but late game percentage, SPD, ACC, and RES are more valuable.
- Before replacing a glyph, think: the old one is destroyed, and the new one might be worse.
- Watch artifact rank: a 6-star glyph won’t fit a 5-star artifact.
Summary
Glyphs are fine-tuning for your build, not your main stat source. Use them to push speed, accuracy, or damage to the thresholds you need. Only glyph artifacts that will stay on the champion long-term, and farm 5–6 star glyphs in Glyph Keep and Faction Wars. That way every glyph works for you instead of gathering dust.
