Silver is the resource that runs out first in RAID: Shadow Legends: one evening of upgrading gear and several million are gone, with little to show for it. Below is every real source of silver, what upgrades actually cost, and the habits that keep your balance at zero.
Every silver source in one place
Silver never appears on its own — it comes either from battle rewards or from selling gear you do not need. The list of big sources is short and well known.
| Source | What it gives | Worth it? |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign (12-3, Brutal and above) | Silver per run, gear to sell, XP for food | Yes — the baseline for early and mid game |
| Dungeons | Silver per clear plus artifacts and accessories | Yes, if you clear them fast and reliably |
| Selling gear | The main income in mid and late game | Yes, constantly |
| Clan Boss, Hydra, Doom Tower | Chests with silver and gear | Yes, these runs are free |
| Events and tournaments | Silver in stage rewards | Yes, when you already farm that content |
| Bastion Mine | Passive silver that fills up to a cap | Yes, just collect it regularly |
Keep one thing in mind: the higher the Campaign difficulty and the Dungeon stage, the more silver per run and the more expensive the gear that drops for selling. The gap between farming random content and farming the highest stage you can clear is tens of percent of income for the same energy.
What gear upgrades really cost
Artifact and accessory upgrades are the biggest sink in the game. Taking one 6★ item from +0 to +16 costs millions of silver, and a full set on one champion runs into tens of millions. On top of that:
- each upgrade level costs more than the previous one, so the final push to +16 is always the expensive part;
- revealing hidden substats also costs silver, so checking a dozen items already adds up;
- substat rerolls are paid and random: you can burn silver and get nothing;
- Ascension and Rank Up also cost silver, and at 6★ those are serious amounts.
The conclusion is simple: silver is not for upgrades in general, it is for the few items you will actually wear for months.
How to farm silver fast
- Farm the highest stage you clear reliably. A 30-second run one stage lower beats a five-minute run one stage higher: silver per hour matters more than silver per run.
- Campaign 12-3. If you also need food for ranking up champions, this is the most efficient option: XP, silver and sellable gear in one place.
- Sell right away. Do not stack hundreds of items for later — sell after every run or use multi-select.
- Use Multi-Battle. Energy is spent either way, but you get far more runs per evening.
- Do not dump energy into low stages just to see silver — income per energy there is noticeably worse.
What to sell and what to keep
Sell everything and you end up with no gear. Keep everything and you end up with no silver. A workable rule:
- Sell: items with flat ATK/HP/DEF substats and no percentages, 4★ and below with junk substats, and duplicate copies you are saving for no reason.
- Keep: 5–6★ pieces with percentages and useful substats (Speed, Accuracy, crit), plus set pieces for specific champions.
- Do not hoard items that might be useful someday — if you cannot name the champion who needs it, nobody needs it.
Where not to spend silver
- Upgrading junk artifacts for a quest or just to check — use the cheapest item you have.
- Pushing everything to +16: +12 is often enough, and the expensive final step belongs on key pieces only.
- Rerolling substats on an item you will never equip.
- Buying random gear from the Market for silver — good pieces show up there rarely.
- Trading gems for silver: the rate is poor, and gems are better spent on energy and masteries.
- Levelling champions you never play just to have them.
When to save: budget and timing
Silver is best spent when spending it earns points. Artifact Enhancement tournaments and events award progress for upgrading gear, so the logic is: save on normal days, spend during the event. The same goes for fusions and big events, where silver disappears fast. Always keep a reserve — an empty balance means a panicked farming session when the next event starts.
Summary
Silver in RAID is not about where to get it, it is about where it goes. Your income comes from selling gear and fast farming of the highest content you can clear; your losses come from mindless +16 upgrades. Sell junk without regret, invest only in the pieces you actually wear, and keep a stock for Artifact Enhancement events — that is how the balance stops hitting zero every evening.
