Mastery scrolls are the currency that unlocks masteries on a specific champion. Without them, even a well-geared hero loses a big chunk of damage, Speed and survivability — especially against the Clan Boss. Below: where scrolls actually come from, how many you need, and how to stop wasting them on a champion you will feed away next week.
What mastery scrolls are and how many you need
Masteries are three trees (Offense, Defense, Support) full of passive bonuses: Speed, Accuracy, Crit Rate, ignore Defense, healing, shields. You do not buy them with Silver or XP — you unlock them with scrolls that drop from runs. Scrolls come in three tiers, matching the lower, middle and upper rows of the tree, and they are spent on one specific champion: you cannot move them to another hero later.
A full set for one champion is dozens of scrolls and roughly 600–900 Energy in the Minotaur's Labyrinth. That is why the question "who gets masteries" always matters more than "how fast can I farm them".
Note: mastery scrolls and Skill Tomes are different resources. Tomes upgrade skills (damage numbers, trigger chances), scrolls unlock passive masteries. Do not mix them up when buying a pack.
Minotaur's Labyrinth is the main source
Almost every scroll in your account comes from the Minotaur dungeon. Each run rewards scrolls, and the higher the stage, the higher the scroll tier and the fewer useless low-tier drops. Farm the highest stage you can clear — in practice, most players settle on stage 15.
- Use Super Raid: 10–20 runs back to back saves real time compared with manual clicking.
- Farm in one block instead of two runs a day, so you can actually see the Energy cost.
- Count Energy, not scrolls: a full set is dozens of runs and close to a thousand Energy, so plan it for days without urgent events.
- Do not try to fix a scroll shortage on low stages — you will burn more Energy for the same masteries.
Other sources of scrolls
- Tournaments and events — scrolls show up in reward tables from time to time, especially dungeon tournaments. Not a main source, but a welcome extra.
- Early missions and challenges — a small stock for your first champions, enough for a couple of lower rows.
- Shop packs — scrolls are sometimes bundled with other resources. More expensive than farming; only worth it if the pack has something you need besides scrolls.
- Buying masteries with Gems — the mastery screen lets you unlock a set instantly for Gems. It costs several hundred Gems, roughly the price of a good gear pack, and is only justified for key champions.
- One-off activity rewards — they happen, but you cannot budget around them.
Who should get masteries first
- Your campaign farmer — usually a starter damage dealer such as Kael. Faster food leveling speeds up everything else.
- The core of your Clan Boss team — 2–4 champions you will not replace for months.
- One Arena nuker — Crit Rate and Speed masteries are worth more than another gear set.
- A key tank or healer for dungeons, if a stage is blocked without them.
- Everyone else — last, once you have scrolls sitting idle.
How not to waste scrolls: six rules
- Plan 3–5 champions ahead. Scrolls spread across ten heroes give you zero finished champions.
- Never invest in future food. If the hero ends up as food or sits in the Vault, the masteries go with them and cannot be recovered.
- Skip filler Epics and Rares you will replace within a week. Prioritise heroes who unlock content, not heroes who looked good in a pull.
- Finish a branch. One point in three trees is weaker than a completed row with a strong effect.
- Resetting masteries costs Gems. Rebuilding is expensive, so decide up front whether the champion is for Clan Boss, Arena or dungeons, and build for that role.
- Do not mastery a naked champion. Masteries multiply stats, they do not replace them: no Accuracy and your Clan Boss build will not land, no Speed and you will not take turns.
Common mistakes
- Farming Minotaur on low stages "for speed" — you pay more Energy for the same result.
- Confusing mastery scrolls with Skill Tomes when buying packs.
- Spending Gems on a full set for a random benchwarmer.
- Building masteries with no Accuracy or Speed — the champion looks built but does nothing.
Summary
Mastery scrolls are not about scarcity, they are about discipline. The main source is Minotaur's Labyrinth at the highest stage you can clear; tournaments, events and Gem purchases are extras. One full set costs roughly 600–900 Energy, so spend it only on champions who will stay in your roster: campaign farmer, Clan Boss core, one Arena nuker. Complete whole branches, avoid unnecessary mastery resets, and never invest in a hero you plan to feed away.
