Tournaments and Events: How to Score Points Without Overspending

Tournaments and events in RAID: Shadow Legends are the main source of shards, books, gear and champion fragments — and also the biggest drain on your resources. Here is where points actually come from, what they really cost, and how not to burn a week of energy for a line on a leaderboard.

Tournaments, events and CvC: the difference

New players mix these up, and the difference decides your whole plan.

  • Tournament — a leaderboard competition. Rewards depend on your rank, so what matters is how much everyone else scores, not just you.
  • Event — the same points, but rewards come from thresholds: reach the score, take the prize, whatever others do. Events are usually the best value.
  • CvC (Clan vs Clan) — a clan tournament where scores add up and the whole clan gets the rewards.
  • Fusion — a chain of tournaments and events where the prizes are champion fragments. What counts is how many thresholds you clear across the whole chain.

Practical takeaway: if you want resources rather than a rank, play for event thresholds and only chase tournament placement rewards that are realistically reachable without overspending.

Where points come from

In almost every format, points are scored for resources spent, not for the action itself. So the question isn't "what should I do" but "what should I pour resources into".

SourceWhat you payNotes
Dungeon runs (Dragon, Fire Knight, Ice Golem, Spider and others)EnergyThe main source when you have no silver or shards to spare
Campaign and food farmingEnergyPoints for level-ups, and you build food for champions anyway
Champion TrainingEnergy + foodPairs well with campaign, but needs a stock of champions
Artifact EnhancementSilverThe cheapest path energy-wise if you sit on a big silver pile
Summon Rush, Champion ChaseShards and fragmentsExpensive — save for a fusion or a guaranteed pull
ArenaArena tokensFree points if you remember your daily fights
Clan BossKeysFree points plus loot you wanted anyway

Arena and Clan Boss give points for what you already do every day. Close them out every time, even when you are not chasing a prize.

The economy: energy, silver, shards, gems

Energy is the most expensive resource and the one you always run short of. Don't dump it in the first minutes of a tournament and don't buy refills with gems before you have done the maths on whether you can reach the threshold. A couple of runs short — the purchase is fine; half a bar short — it isn't.

Silver is cheap in energy but expensive in money. The classic mistake is pushing junk artifacts to max level for points. Upgrade to mid levels, while the cost per level is still reasonable: you get the points either way and keep silver for gear that matters.

Shards are the most debatable resource. Ancients and Voids are workable, but only spend them if a fusion, a guaranteed summon or a prize you actually need is coming. Sacred and Mythical shards on a regular tournament is almost always overspending.

Gems are your emergency reserve. Keep them for energy in the final hours, not for impulse summons.

A tournament plan, step by step

  1. Open the reward list and check what the thresholds give, not just first place.
  2. Take stock: energy, silver, shards, gems, spare champions to level.
  3. Pick one or two tournaments in the chain where your stock actually clears the threshold.
  4. Estimate your rate: how many points you earn per hour of farming. Multiply by the time left — that is your ceiling.
  5. Don't chase the top in the last hours unless you need the placement reward: that is where gem wars happen.
  6. Decide your stopping threshold in advance and stick to it.

CvC and clan coordination

In CvC scores add up, so it is far better to push a threshold as a clan than to carry the board alone. Agree in chat who covers dungeons, who covers arena, who covers summons: resources spread more evenly and total points climb. Clan rewards are often richer than personal ones, and they are worth adjusting your own plan for. If the clan is inactive, don't sacrifice your stock for other people's points.

Common mistakes

  • Dumping every shard for a top-10 spot that gets taken in the final hour anyway.
  • Maxing artifacts purely for points.
  • Ignoring event thresholds while staring at the tournament board.
  • Farming slow, hard dungeons instead of fast ones: points per run barely differ, time does.
  • Buying energy with gems in the first hour without a budget.
  • Forgetting the free sources: arena, Clan Boss, daily quests.

Summary

Tournaments and events are won not by whoever spends most, but by whoever counted the threshold in advance and didn't overpay. Close the free point sources, put energy where it returns the most, keep shards and gems for fusions and guaranteed summons, and play CvC as a team. Do that and prizes arrive regularly while your stockpile survives past midweek.
