Demons in Faction Wars are a control-and-delayed-damage faction: proper healers are scarce, but Provoke, Sleep, bombs and HP burn are everywhere. The crypt punishes greed for damage and rewards a clean turn order. Here is who to bring, how to build them, and where runs usually fall apart.
What makes the Demons crypt different
This is not a crypt where you stack five damage dealers and brute-force the waves. Damage here arrives late, through bombs and HP burn, while survivability comes from shields, Block Damage and crowd control. The rule is simple: shut the wave down first, hit it second.
- Waves are dense: several enemies with AoE damage and debuffs, so one failed control check can cost the whole run.
- Real healers are rare, but shields, Block Damage and Block Debuffs are plentiful — build around them.
- HP burn and bombs clear waves faster than single-target nuking because they hit everything at once.
- Accuracy is critical: without it Provoke and Sleep simply do not land and the team folds on wave two or three.
Team skeleton: assign the roles
Build by role, not by card power. Five strong champions without a safety net lose to four well-assigned ones.
- Support and safety net. Duchess Lilitu is the benchmark: shield, Block Debuffs and revive in one slot.
- Control. Prince Kymar (Sleep plus cooldown reset), Umbral Enchantress (mass Provoke), Countess Lix (Block Active Skills).
- Protection. Helicath — Block Damage and shields to survive the ugliest waves.
- Area damage. Sicia Flametongue, Lord Shazar, Candraphon — they clean up whatever is already controlled.
- Boss damage and anti-heal. Magnarr (HP-based, so he hits and survives) and Inithwe Bloodtwin with Block Revive.
Best Demons champions for the crypt
These are the names to plan around. Mythicals are great, but owning one is luck, not a strategy.
| Champion | Rarity | Role | Why bring them |
|---|---|---|---|
| Karnage the Anarch | Mythical | Damage | Damage ceiling, if you are lucky enough to have him |
| Duchess Lilitu | Legendary | Support | Shield, Block Debuffs and revive — three holes in one slot |
| Prince Kymar | Legendary | Control | Sleep and cooldown reset: the wave never gets to answer |
| Helicath | Legendary | Protection | Block Damage and shields keep late waves stable |
| Sicia Flametongue | Legendary | HP burn | Clears waves with delayed damage |
| Lord Shazar | Legendary | Bombs | Finishes whatever survived the first hit |
| Candraphon | Legendary | Nuker | Main damage into controlled targets |
| Countess Lix | Legendary | Control | Block Active Skills plus damage |
| Inithwe Bloodtwin | Legendary | Anti-heal | Block Revive and heal reduction — boss insurance |
| Magnarr | Epic | Nuker | HP scaling: hits hard and stays alive, perfect on a budget |
| Umbral Enchantress | Epic | Control | Mass Provoke — the cheapest way to hold waves |
Keep the top of the rating in mind too: Chalco the Blind, Praeva the Slitherer, Authoratrix Lamasu, Cheshire Cat, Vulkanos Fumor, and the mythicals Komidus Darksmile and Kurosa the Covetous all perform at the maximum in this crypt. If you own one, slot them in almost without thinking and build the rest of the team around them.
Budget setup: clearing without legendaries
With no legendaries, the core comes from epics: Magnarr as your main damage, Umbral Enchantress as your control. Fill the remaining slots from your roster, but do not break the structure — without control and a safety net, even good damage will not carry the crypt.
- One controller with Provoke or Sleep — mandatory.
- One support or a champion with shields / Block Damage.
- One source of area damage (HP burn, bombs, AoE).
- One dedicated damage dealer to finish the boss.
- One flex slot for revive or anti-heal, depending on the floor.
Do not bring three nukers. The waves will delete them before they deal their damage.
Gear and masteries
- Controllers need accuracy first. On high floors aim for roughly 200–250+ accuracy; if Provokes keep missing, add more.
- Supports want speed, HP and DEF. Speed, Regeneration or Immunity sets work well.
- Damage dealers want 100% crit rate, then crit damage and ATK or HP scaling.
- Tanks and Block Damage holders need HP, DEF and speed so their key skills come back on time.
- Masteries: damage dealers go down the offense tree with Warmaster or Giant Slayer for the boss; controllers take accuracy and survivability; supports take support and durability nodes.
Tactics and common mistakes
- Open with control on the most dangerous targets, not with damage. Killing one enemy is worse than switching three off.
- Do not spread your debuffs thin: Provoke and Block Buffs first, AoE second.
- Save the revive for the end of the run — a death on the early waves usually means a restart anyway.
- On the boss, stability beats speed: keep shields and Block Damage for his big hit instead of burning cooldowns on raw damage.
- The biggest mistake is skimping on accuracy. One missed control check turns a clean clear into a wipe.
Summary
Demons are cleared by team structure, not by card power: one controller, one protection source, one support and enough area damage. Duchess Lilitu and Prince Kymar can carry the crypt alone, but Magnarr plus Umbral Enchantress clears floors too, as long as you respect accuracy and do not overload on damage. Shut the wave down first, hit it second — and Demons become one of the most predictable factions in the game.
