Faction Wars: Sylvan Watchers — Best Heroes and Tips

Sylvan Watchers is one of the most expensive factions in Faction Wars: the top of the rating is all legendaries and mythicals, and cheap workhorse epics are few. You don't need a huge roster to clear the crypt, though — roles, Speed and Accuracy matter far more. Here's who to build, how to put the team together, and where runs usually fall apart on the waves and the boss.

How the Sylvan Watchers crypt works

The standard Faction Wars formula: three waves of regular enemies, then the crypt boss. Waves test your AoE damage, control and survivability — if the team can't keep pace, it gets picked apart one by one. The boss tests resilience: without healing, shields and damage reduction, there's nothing to do there.

The faction's quirk is that it has plenty of strong legendaries but few cheap 'workhorses' among rares. Early on you usually run a hybrid of epics and whatever dropped; by stages 14–21 you need a proper core: a support with healing and cleanse, death insurance (a reviver or strong shields), a damage dealer and control. Stage rewards are a nice bonus, but the real value is account progress and the resources a full clear unlocks.

Which roles to cover

  • Support core: healing, cleanse, and a Speed or Defense buff. Without it, the waves eat the team before the boss.
  • Reviver: not mandatory if you have strong healing and shields, but it makes the late stages much easier.
  • Damage dealer: you need AoE damage for waves and solid damage against the boss.
  • Control: stuns, freezes, sleep, Decrease SPD and turn meter reduction — this is what stops enemies from playing before you.
  • Debuffs: Decrease ATK and DEF, Block Buffs, Heal Reduction on the boss — as the run requires.

If something is missing, don't bring a fifth damage dealer: a second support or control is better. Slower, but stable.

Best heroes in the faction

The FW rating is a good reference: the top of the faction is 5.0-rated heroes, but not all of them are mandatory. Look at the role, not the rarity.

HeroRarityRoleWhy
Elva AutumnbornLegendarySupportSpeed, healing and cleanse — the backbone
Eostrid DreamsongLegendarySupport/controlSleep and support, smooths the waves
Rayah the MournedLegendaryAll-rounderOne of the faction's top FW ratings
Grand Oak PadraigLegendaryAll-rounderHigh rating, a solid crypt unit
Niamhe Spear of NyresaLegendaryDamageBoss damage
Criodan the BlueEpicDamage with controlThe best budget option
Mistrider DaithiEpicSupport/SpeedTeam speed-up without legendaries
Nais the Shadowthief / Arbais the Stonethorn / Nell BlackteethMythicalAll-rounderTop if you have them; expensive to build

If you're missing the 5.0 names, don't panic: solid 4.5 legendaries such as King Gallcobar, Lady of Ireth, Oella or Claidna are more than enough for the crypt. Build around the role you need to fill, not around rarity.

Team comps for different progress

Budget: Criodan the Blue as your damage, Mistrider Daithi as support and speed boost, plus epics with healing or control. If you have no legendaries at all, run two supports and control — damage comes slowly, but the run holds.

Mid: Elva Autumnborn + Eostrid Dreamsong + a damage dealer (Niamhe or Criodan) + a second support or control. Elva covers cleanse and healing, Eostrid adds control on the waves.

Top: Elva, Rayah the Mourned or Grand Oak Padraig, a mythical (Nais, Arbais or Nell) and a damage dealer of choice. Even here, turn order and Accuracy matter more than the number of legendaries.

Gear and stats

  • Speed: 200+ on supports by the late stages; damage dealers need to move after the buffs.
  • Accuracy: around 200–250+ on control and debuffers for stage 20+.
  • HP/DEF: don't run glass cannons — the waves hit hard.
  • Crit Rate and Crit Damage on damage dealers are the baseline.
  • Sets: Speed, Perception, Life/Defense; supports can use Regen or Immunity.

Don't chase a set at the cost of stats: a good epic with the right substats often beats legendary junk. And don't skip masteries — Speed, Accuracy and survivability masteries give more than they look like on paper.

Wave and boss tactics

On waves, don't dump every AoE on the first one: hold control for the second and third, strip dangerous buffs, and focus healers and revivers. Sleep and freeze at the start of a turn stop enemies from stacking debuffs.

On the boss, enter with cooldowns ready and keep Heal Reduction and Decrease ATK up if you have them. Accuracy matters here too — a missed debuff often costs the attempt. If the team folds at 30–40% boss HP, the problem is usually healing and Speed, not damage.

A common mistake is stacking every legendary you own with no roles. Another is ignoring Accuracy on control: without it, sleeps and stuns simply don't land.

Summary

Sylvan Watchers is a faction where the top heroes really are top, but the crypt is cleared by roles and stats, not by them. Build a support core (Elva Autumnborn is the best pick), add control and a proper damage dealer, sort out Speed and Accuracy — and stage 21 stops being a wall.
