The Dwarves are one of the most forgiving factions in RAID: Shadow Legends: deep support, hard control and damage dealers that hit off MAX HP are all here in abundance. Below is a practical breakdown — who to build for Faction Wars, how to split roles and what usually costs you keys.
Why the Dwarves are a comfortable faction
Faction Wars locks you to champions of a single faction, so roster gaps show up fast. The Dwarves have very few of them.
- Support depth. Underpriest Brogni, Senna Amberheart, Melga Steelgirdle and Demytha cover healing, shields and Block Damage — half the battle on late stages.
- Control. Tormin the Cold and Hilvi the Rime-called work through Freeze, Maulie Tankard through Provoke. Waves stop being a problem.
- Damage. Trunda Giltmallet, Acrizia, Gnut and Mountain King bring both AoE and single-target boss damage.
- Budget core. There are enough epics to reach stage 14–17 while your legendaries are still levelling.
You can clear the crypt without mythicals: Frolni the Mechanist and Cinda Forgeheart are a bonus, not a requirement.
Best Dwarf champions
Support and control
Underpriest Brogni is the anchor: shields, debuff protection and HP-based survivability. In an HP build he holds the waves while your damage does the work.
Senna Amberheart brings heals and ally support plus solid survivability; she slots into almost any lineup, especially if you lack Brogni.
Maulie Tankard pulls hits onto herself with Provoke, buying time for squishy damage dealers.
Tormin the Cold and Hilvi the Rime-called control through Freeze — on stages 14–20 that is your anti-wipe insurance.
Damage
Acrizia and Gnut deal MAX HP-based damage, the universal answer to fat enemies and the stage 21 boss. If you can only book one of them, book them.
Trunda Giltmallet brings AoE HP Burn — great for clearing waves and for fights with lots of targets.
Mountain King is a DEF-based bruiser for long fights, and Admiral Blacktusk is a sturdy body with useful debuffs. The rest of the faction's legendaries (Tholin Foulbeard, Osgrun the Defiler, Uzol of the Jade, Arnorn The Shining, Thralia, She Who Stands, Keeyra the Watcher, Granyt Doorkeep) are playable but not mandatory for stage 21.
The epic core: clearing on a budget
- Demytha — Block Damage and speed. Lets you survive the nastiest waves before you own a legendary support.
- Melga Steelgirdle — heal, shield and revive in one kit. The best budget stand-in for a top support.
- Runekeeper Dazdurk — heals and buffs; fine for early and mid stages.
- Conellia — control through Sleep where Freeze is not enough.
- Grizzled Jarl — defence and debuff blocking for fragile damage dealers.
A Melga Steelgirdle + Demytha + Grizzled Jarl trio comfortably carries you to stage 13–17; past that a legendary usually joins in.
Building the stage 21 team
Five slots, five jobs:
- Main support — heals or shields (Brogni, Senna, Melga).
- Safety net — Block Damage, debuff protection or revive (Demytha, Jarl).
- Tank or Provoker — Maulie Tankard or Mountain King.
- Main damage — Acrizia or Gnut.
- Second damage or control — Trunda, Tormin, Hilvi.
Turn order matters: supports must act before your damage so shields and buffs land first. If your speeds are messy, you lose half of a champion's value.
Gear and masteries
- Speed boots on everyone, no exceptions. A slow champion simply does not take turns late on.
- Chest — HP% or DEF% depending on scaling; damage dealers take crit gloves, supports take HP%.
- Accuracy on every debuffer with a margin — think roughly 200+ for the later stages, or your Freeze and Provoke will keep getting resisted.
- Sets: Perception on debuffers, Lifesteal or Immortal for sustain, Shield on a support.
- Masteries: Warmaster or Giant Slayer on damage, defensive and support trees on healers.
Do not forget the Great Hall and Faction Guardians: Accuracy, Speed and HP bonuses for Dwarves apply in every fight, crypt included.
Tactics and common mistakes
Stages 1–6 are a warm-up, 7–13 test your healing, 14–20 pressure you with debuffs and demand Accuracy, and 21 is the boss where damage and survivability must balance. Keys are limited, so do not burn attempts on a stage you clear by luck — build one more champion instead.
- Four damage dealers and no support is the classic wipe.
- No Accuracy on debuffers means your control never lands.
- Two champions with the same debuff in one team is a wasted slot.
- Ignoring revive and Block Damage from stage 14 onward.
Summary
The Dwarves are one of the easiest factions to clear in Faction Wars: strong support, reliable control and MAX HP damage cover almost every awkward mechanic. The minimum plan is Melga Steelgirdle or Senna Amberheart as your support, Demytha or Grizzled Jarl as the safety net, Acrizia or Gnut for damage — then upgrade as legendaries drop. The real keys are Speed, Accuracy and one extra support instead of a third damage dealer.
