Skinwalkers are one of the deeper factions in Faction Wars, so you rarely need to force a strange budget team if you have a few key legendaries. The crypt still punishes greedy damage builds: later stages and the final boss want a reviver, cleanse and control. This guide covers the heroes worth building, the roles your team must cover, and the practical fixes that get you through.
How the Skinwalkers crypt works
Faction Wars only lets you use Skinwalkers, so the team must cover healing, cleansing, control and damage on its own. Early stages forgive one strong nuker plus any healer, but later waves get denser and the boss checks your survival. If the team dies to waves rather than the boss, the problem is usually speed, cleansing or missing control.
- Survival beats record damage. One reviver and one healer often do more than a third nuker.
- Control saves gear. Provoke, decrease ATK and stun reduce incoming damage more than they look like they do.
- Accuracy is not just for the boss. Debuffs must land on waves, or control becomes empty turns.
Best heroes for the Skinwalkers crypt
Use this as a roster guide, not a rigid tier list. Different stages value different things: some want AoE damage, others want cleanse or provoke. If a hero is already built, they usually have a place.
| Hero | Rarity | Role | Why use them |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marius the Gallant | Legendary | Damage/utility | Strong pick for later stages and the boss. |
| The Cowardly Lion | Legendary | Support/survival | Helps the team live through dense waves. |
| Thayla Hammerhorn | Legendary | Healer/reviver | Healing and revive are core for late stages. |
| Sun Wukong | Legendary | Damage | High damage with good personal survival. |
| Galleus Bloodcrest | Mythical | Damage/control | Mythical flex pick that covers several jobs. |
| Gnishak Verminlord | Legendary | Damage over time | Poisons and bombs help on the boss. |
| Mezomel Luperfang | Mythical | Support/damage | Flexible mythical for difficult stages. |
| Mighty Ukko | Legendary | Support | Buffs and cleanse stop debuff overload. |
| Ragash | Legendary | Damage/control | AoE damage and control on waves. |
| Khoronar | Legendary | Tank/control | Provoke and decrease ATK protect the team. |
| Teumesia | Legendary | Damage/support | Useful when you need area damage and support. |
| Leorius the Proud | Legendary | Damage | Finishes waves and speeds up clears. |
| Razelvarg | Legendary | Damage | Good option for an aggressive setup. |
| Hakkorhn Smashlord | Legendary | Tank/damage | Durability and boss pressure. |
| Sniktraak | Legendary | Support/poisons | Helps on waves and against the boss. |
| Warchief | Legendary | Tank/support | Team protection and survival. |
| Bambus Fourleaf | Legendary | Support/healing | Healing and buffs for long fights. |
| Norog | Legendary | Damage/tank | Solid bruiser for late stages. |
Do not jam every top hero into one team. Three nukers and no reviver will lose faster than a missing legendary.
Budget and epic options
Skinwalkers are flexible enough that you can build a working team without a full legendary roster. Epics and rares cover specific holes if you do not ask them to do everything.
- Akemtum — epic poison option; useful on the boss when damage over time is missing.
- Longbeard — legendary support with ally attacks; helps finish problem targets.
- Ghomm Yellowhand — epic support you can use as a budget helper.
- Gwyndolin The Silent — legendary support/control option if you already have her.
- Yuzan the Marooned — epic hero who can fill a utility slot.
- Fren’zi the Cackler — epic damage if you need another DPS.
- Gnarlhorn — rare control/tank for early and mid stages.
Do not ignore Gnarlhorn: early on he is cheaper to build and can provide control you lack. On the highest stages, though, he still wants legendary support around him.
Team building by roles
A working Skinwalkers frame is one reviver or strong healer, one support with cleanse/buffs, one tank or controller, and two damage sources. If damage is unstable, run one DPS and lean harder into survival. On waves it is better to stop enemies from taking turns than to chase a big screenshot.
- Reviver. Without one, a bad focus on waves ends the run.
- Cleanse or block debuffs. Especially against poison, fear and decrease ATK.
- Decrease ATK or provoke. A cheap way to survive dangerous waves.
- AoE damage. Speeds up waves and reduces return hits.
- Boss damage. Poisons, bombs or a strong single-target DPS — the sooner the better.
Gear, accuracy and masteries
Speed is the first priority for the whole team. Support should move before DPS so buffs and cleanse are already up. Debuffers need accuracy: on late stages the minimum no longer works, so build a buffer. Nukers want 100% crit rate and crit damage; tanks want HP/DEF and speed.
- Support: Speed, Perception, Resilience or Regeneration; lots of HP and DEF.
- Debuffer: Speed plus Perception/Accuracy; accuracy above the comfortable mark.
- DPS: Speed, crit damage, Lifesteal or Shield for survival.
- Tank: HP/DEF, speed and provoke where possible.
Masteries: supports go into Support and survival, DPS into Offense with single-target bonuses. Boss damage masteries are good, but do not sacrifice speed for them.
Boss fight and common mistakes
Do not autopilot the boss. Manual play makes it easier to time cleanse, revive and decrease ATK. If the boss kills you in one rotation, check support speed and debuff accuracy, not just damage. A common mistake is bringing a pretty damage hero with no reviver or cleanse: waves will stop you before the boss matters.
- Support is too slow — buffs arrive after the enemy’s first hit.
- No reviver — any death becomes the end of the run.
- Low accuracy — control and poisons fail to land.
- Auto-battle on hard stages — skills fire at the wrong time.
- Ignoring waves — the boss finishes an already half-dead team.
Summary
Skinwalkers in Faction Wars are cleared by a balanced team, not by the most expensive roster. Start with a reviver/healer, add cleanse and decrease ATK, then fill in damage. Among legendaries, look to Thayla Hammerhorn, Sun Wukong, Marius the Gallant, Galleus Bloodcrest and Gnishak Verminlord; on a budget, remember Akemtum and Gnarlhorn. Once the team reaches the boss reliably, accuracy, speed and manual control matter more than one extra nuker.
