Faction Wars is a marathon where one overpowered champion won't save you — you need a full squad built from a single faction. The Renegades have it easier than most: plenty of legendary damage and some genuinely strong epic support, which means the crypt is clearable without a single mythical. Here's how to build the team, who to level first and where runs usually fall apart.
How the crypt works
The Renegades crypt runs for 21 stages, and only champions of that faction can enter.
- Own faction only. No duplicates — you cannot field two copies of the same champion even if you own them.
- Five slots. The fifth slot usually goes to support or control, not "one more nuker": without survivability the late stages simply don't happen.
- Stars and Glyphs. Clearing stages earns stars that unlock crypt rewards; Glyphs go into Faction Guardians — passive bonuses for your whole account.
- Stability over speed. A slow 15-minute clear beats a flashy 30-second wipe on wave two.
The skeleton: roles, not names
Before you start sorting through legendaries, build a framework — without it even good champions play out of sync.
- One or two damage dealers to clear waves and burn down the boss.
- A tank or shield champion to absorb hits on stages 15+, where enemies hit brutally hard.
- A healer or reviver — mandatory, because one missed control check undoes the whole attempt.
- Control — Provoke, Stun, Decrease SPD. The more enemies are locked down, the less damage comes your way.
And Accuracy deserves its own line: a debuffer with low Accuracy is dead weight on late stages — aim for roughly 200–250.
Best Renegades champions
These are the names that show up at the top of Faction Wars ratings most often. Slot the all-rounders first and the specialists where you actually need them.
| Champion | Rarity | Role | Why in the crypt |
|---|---|---|---|
| Queen of Hearts | Legendary | All-rounder | Top of the FW rating: covers several jobs in one slot |
| Night Queen Krixia | Mythical | All-rounder | Two-form mythical, flexible against waves and bosses |
| Embrys The Anomaly | Mythical | All-rounder | Second mythical of the faction, makes the final stages much easier |
| Georgid the Breaker | Legendary | Damage | Heavy nuker, clears waves fast |
| Kalvalax | Legendary | Damage / poisons | Strong on bosses and in long fights |
| Wurlim Frostking | Legendary | Tank / support | Shields and defensive buffs for stages 15+ |
| Soulless | Legendary | Control | Provoke and durability, pins waves in place |
| Rector Drath | Epic | Heal / revive | Key epic: brings fallen allies back and keeps healing |
| Doompriest | Epic | Support | Passive cleanse on every turn — constant insurance |
| Miscreated Monster | Epic | Tank | Shields and ally protection instead of a second healer |
| Skullcrown | Epic | Damage | AoE wave damage on an epic budget |
| Whisper | Epic | Damage | Single-target burst, ideal against bosses |
No mythicals? Not a problem: two legendary damage dealers plus epic support cover almost the entire crypt.
Stage-by-stage approach
Stages 1–14
Take your time here: test combinations and work out who actually deals damage and who is just filling a slot. One healer and basic control is enough — don't drag your full arsenal into the early stages.
Stages 15–21
Enemy stats jump hard, so Accuracy, survivability and turn order move to the front. Support should act before your damage dealers so shields and heals don't arrive late. Re-run stages you've already cleared for Glyphs — they feed Faction Guardians and pay off across your whole account.
Gear, Accuracy and masteries
- Damage dealers: Speed, ATK or damage stats, Critical Rate near 100% and Critical Damage. Don't chase HP.
- Support and tanks: HP and DEF first, Speed on top.
- Debuffers: 200–250 Accuracy on late stages, otherwise control and poisons simply won't land.
- Masteries: damage trees for your nukers, survivability and support trees for healers. Build one working setup per champion rather than half-finishing five.
Common mistakes
- Five damage dealers — looks great on stage one, wipes on stage fifteen.
- Ignoring Accuracy: that's the real reason your control "never procs".
- No reviver — a single mistake then costs the entire run.
- Levelling wide: one solid squad beats ten half-built champions.
Summary
The Renegades crypt is very doable without mythicals: two solid damage dealers, a shielded tank, a healer with a revive and some control will get it done. Start with epics like Rector Drath and Doompriest, add one legendary nuker and never skip Accuracy. Stages 15+ demand patience, but that's exactly where the real rewards sit.
