Faction Wars: Barbarians — Best Heroes and Tips

Faction Wars in RAID: Shadow Legends is a 21-stage crypt that only your faction’s champions can clear. Barbarians are one of the friendliest factions for the mode: they have a reliable reviver, cleanse, counterattack, and several strong damage dealers. Below are the key roles, workable team comps, gear priorities, and stage 21 tips.

Why Barbarians work well in Faction Wars

Their biggest advantage is role coverage. You do not have to improvise a reviver: Scyl of the Drakes handles healing and revival, Tuhanarak helps the team survive debuffs, Valkyrie brings shields and counterattack, and Fahrakin the Fat speeds up kills with Ally Attack and debuffs. Add Turvold, Bayek, or Thor Faehammer, and damage stops being the bottleneck.

  • Revive and healing: Scyl of the Drakes is the backbone of most comps.
  • Support: Tuhanarak cleanses and helps avoid debuff lock.
  • Protection: Valkyrie and Ursuga Warcaller add shields, counterattack, or ally protection.
  • Damage: Turvold, Bayek, Thor Faehammer, R. Nergigante Archer.
  • Control: Armanz the Magnificent and Loki the Deceiver help on waves.

Key heroes and their roles

HeroRoleWhy you bring them
Scyl of the DrakesRevive, heal, supportInsurance on stage 21: brings fallen allies back and keeps the team healthy.
TuhanarakCleanse, block debuffsHelps survive AoE and boss debuffs.
ValkyrieShields, counterattackCuts incoming damage and adds return hits.
Fahrakin the FatAlly Attack, debuffsSpeeds up wave and boss kills with HP Burn, Poison, and Decrease DEF.
TurvoldDamageMain single-target damage.
BayekDamageStrong legendary damage if you have him.
Thor FaehammerDamageHeavy damage and boss pressure.
Armanz the MagnificentControlMakes waves safer to clear.

You do not need every legendary listed. The core matters more: reviver + cleanse or protection + 2–3 damage sources. If you lack Tuhanarak, lean on Valkyrie and Scyl to survive problematic waves.

Workable team comps

Build around “1 reviver, 1–2 supports, 2–3 damage dealers.” These shells are easy to adapt to your roster.

  1. Universal: Scyl of the Drakes, Tuhanarak, Fahrakin the Fat, Turvold, Valkyrie. Lots of support, revive, and steady damage.
  2. No Tuhanarak: Scyl of the Drakes, Valkyrie, Fahrakin the Fat, Bayek, Turvold. More pressure, but watch debuffs.
  3. Control shell: Scyl of the Drakes, Armanz the Magnificent, Fahrakin the Fat, Thor Faehammer, Valkyrie. Control helps on waves, not just the boss.

If damage is low, swap one support for a damage dealer, but never remove the reviver. On stage 21, one death without a revive often snowballs into a loss.

Gear and stats that matter

Faction Wars is less about “perfect” gear and more about Speed and survival. Supports want Speed, HP, and DEF; debuffers want Accuracy; damage dealers want 100% CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG.

  • Scyl of the Drakes: Speed, HP%, DEF. Speed and survival sets.
  • Tuhanarak: Speed, HP%, Accuracy. The faster she is, the more often she cleanses.
  • Valkyrie: Speed, HP%, DEF. Shields and counterattack should come online early.
  • Fahrakin the Fat: Speed, Accuracy, HP%. He needs his debuffs to land.
  • Damage dealers: 100% CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK. Speed boots are almost always better than ATK boots.

Do not chase CRIT DMG on supports: Scyl and Tuhanarak need to survive, not deal damage. An extra 20–30 Speed on a support often does more than another attack set.

Masteries and blessings

For Scyl and Tuhanarak, take Speed, DEF, and support masteries — survival beats damage. Put damage dealers on Warmaster or Giant Slayer to push boss damage. Debuffers like Fahrakin benefit from Accuracy and Speed masteries. Blessings should shore up Speed, HP, or DEF; you do not need rare offensive effects.

Stage 21 tactics

The final stage is a survival and discipline check. Do not burn Scyl’s revive “just in case” — save it for a key champion. Before dangerous AoE, use Tuhanarak’s block debuffs or Valkyrie’s shields, and keep Decrease ATK and Fahrakin’s debuffs on the boss.

  • Clear waves with control first; do not let the fight drag.
  • Keep Decrease ATK on the boss if your team has it.
  • Cleanse debuffs before big hits, not after.
  • Do not revive a champion who will die to the next AoE; wait for a safer window.
  • Check Speed: your team should take turns more often than the boss.

Common mistakes

  • A team without a reviver — stage 21 becomes a coin flip.
  • Too many damage dealers and too little support: waves kill you before the boss.
  • Low Speed — you cannot cleanse debuffs or put up shields in time.
  • Ignoring Fahrakin’s Accuracy: debuffs miss and damage drops.
  • Spending the revive “just in case” before the boss.

Summary

Barbarians are one of the most comfortable Faction Wars factions. The core is simple: Scyl of the Drakes as reviver and healer, Tuhanarak or Valkyrie as support, Fahrakin the Fat as an enabler, plus 1–2 damage dealers such as Turvold, Bayek, or Thor Faehammer. Build Speed and survival, respect Accuracy and Decrease ATK, and stage 21 falls without a perfect roster.
