Faction Wars: Shadowkin — Best Champions and Tips

Shadowkin is the faction many players build for PvP first and only later discover how comfortably it clears Faction Wars. This guide covers the champions that actually carry the crypt, how to split roles, and what to fix in gear and masteries so stage 21 falls without a full set of mythicals.

How the Shadowkin crypt works

Faction Wars is 21 stages in a row, and only champions of your own faction may enter. Every seventh stage ends with a boss, and stage 21 is the real test: by then it is not about names in your roster, it is about accuracy, speed and decent gear.

  • Progress at your own pace: clear the early stages with whatever you have, then rebuild the team around bosses.
  • One-time stage rewards are nice, but the long-term value is Faction Guardians — permanent bonuses for Shadowkin champions.
  • The crypt does not unlock on day one, so do not chase it immediately; build a gear base first.
  • Do not count on constant revives: survival comes from shields, damage reduction and healing.

Best legendary champions

Shadowkin is one of the richest factions when it comes to legendaries, so a working team can be built even without mythicals.

ChampionWhy you bring them
Lady MikageMythical all-rounder: covers several jobs at once and saves team slots.
YumekoControl: blocks active skills and breaks enemy combos on the waves.
Tetsuya the DelivererHigh-tier legendary you can comfortably build the whole team around.
HarimaYour main boss damage dealer: chews through thick targets when raw damage is what you need.
NinjaThe free legendary most accounts own: HP burn and freeze in one package.
Onryo IeyasuDebuffs and pressure: helps grind down dense waves.

The rest of the legendaries are not filler — they are options for a specific job:

  • Karato Foxhunter, Jintoro, Shu-Zhen the Valorous, Shredder, Zinogre Blademaster — damage; bring them when your main damage dealer cannot finish the boss.
  • Kyoku, Michinaki, Yukimasa, Demon Of Ice, Yoshi The Drunkard — control and debuff pressure for the waves.
  • Lady Kimi, Jingwon, Ishiyama The Immovable, Riho Bonespear — support and survivability options.

Epics and a budget roster

You can realistically clear the crypt without mythicals and without every legendary: epics plug the key holes.

  • Toragi The Frog — the budget tank: soaks part of the damage and heals the team. Without a strong protector he is close to mandatory.
  • Hotatsu — support that helps you survive the waves and clean off nasty debuffs.
  • Genbo the Dishonored — an epic damage dealer who handles waves while your legendaries are busy elsewhere.
  • Rares and uncommons still help on the first 10–12 stages: do not pour resources into them, but do not ignore them either if progress stalls.

Roles: building a team that works

The basic template is 1 main damage dealer, 1–2 control champions, 1 support/healer and 1 tank. That setup reliably reaches the boss and has enough time to kill it.

  • Damage. One strong hitter beats three mediocre ones: the boss needs to eat a lot of damage in a short window.
  • Control. Block active skills, freeze, stun and decrease speed are your main way of not losing champions on the waves.
  • Support. Healing, shields, debuff cleansing and speed buffs.
  • Tank. Soaks damage and stops the boss from deleting your squishy damage dealer.

If a champion does not fit a role, replace them rather than dragging the team along on damage alone.

Beating the stage 21 boss

  • Clear the waves efficiently: do not burn control and long cooldowns on the first enemies if auto-attacks will do.
  • Reach the boss with cooldowns ready: shields, damage reduction and control should be up for the opening turn.
  • Keep accuracy high enough that your debuffs land consistently — on the late stages that is roughly 200–250, depending on your gear.
  • Watch debuffs on your own team: cleansing and immunity are often worth more than a few extra percent of damage.
  • Do not drag the fight out: the longer the boss stands, the more often its heavy skills come around.

Gear and masteries

  • Speed and accuracy are the base for control and support: Speed, Perception and Accuracy sets, with speed boots almost always mandatory.
  • Damage dealers. Attack or HP scaling depending on the champion; if survivability dips, add Lifesteal or shields.
  • Tanks. HP and defence, plus Regeneration or Immunity to last until the end of the fight.
  • Masteries. Damage dealers go into the Offense tree with boss damage nodes (Giant Slayer or Helmsmasher); control and support take the Support tree for accuracy and speed.
  • Do not chase legendary gear: well-rolled epic and rare artifacts with the right substats outperform random top-tier pieces.

Summary

Shadowkin clears the crypt through proper role coverage, not through the number of legendaries. If you own Yumeko, Lady Mikage or Tetsuya the Deliverer, build around them; if not, put Toragi The Frog at tank, fill damage with epics, and keep accuracy and speed in check. Stage 21 will fall without rush and without wasting resources.
