Faction Wars: High Elves — Best Heroes and Tips

High Elves are one of the smoothest factions for Faction Wars: you get a Speed aura, revival, debuff cleansing and enough damage to clear waves without gimmicks. Below is a practical breakdown — who to build first, how to put together a budget team, and why stage 21 rewards a proper build rather than five random legendaries.

Why the faction works

  • Tempo. Speed auras and turn meter boosts let your team move first — on waves that is half the fight.
  • Survivability. Healing, shields, debuff removal and revival are spread across several champions, so one bad turn does not end the run.
  • Damage. There is both AoE for the waves and heavy single-target hits for the final boss.
  • Roster depth. Mythicals, strong legendaries and solid epics mean you can build a team even without the top-tier names.

The only real trap: there are too many good champions, and it is easy to spread resources across five of them without finishing a single one.

The core: who to build first

Build for roles, not rarity. In Faction Wars teams usually lose because of missing Speed and Accuracy, not because the nuker is weak.

Mythicals and top legendaries

If Sabrael the Distant or Starsage Galathir is in your roster, you are already halfway through the faction. Mythicals are valuable for flexibility: one champion covers two roles, which frees a slot for extra damage or control. Before you spend books and gear, read the kit and decide what you actually lack — survivability or finishing power.

Among legendaries, keep Solanar The Gleaming, Tatura Rimehide, The Incarnate, Lysanthir Beastbane, Strategos Islin, High Keeper Prysma, Basileus Roanas, Elenaril, Shirimani and Belanor in mind. Most of them fill a specific niche, but do not try to build them all: two or three legendaries matched to roles beat six half-built ones.

Budget team and epics

  • Elhain — the starter many players forget; she is enough for waves and clean-up damage.
  • Tayrel — the faction's best epic: Decrease DEF plus Weaken often outvalues a legendary.
  • Vergis — support with shields and healing, saves shaky builds.
  • Ethlen the Golden, Skeuramis — fill the missing role once the core is set.

A working budget core looks like this: Elhain (damage) + Tayrel (debuffs) + Vergis (support) + two champions picked for the stage you are stuck on.

Build: Speed, Accuracy, survivability

  1. Speed. Prioritise supports and debuffers; damage dealers can be a little slower. Turn order matters more than raw numbers.
  2. Accuracy. Debuffers need a healthy pool for late stages — aim for 200+ and adjust upward as needed. If Decrease DEF keeps getting resisted, the problem is almost always Accuracy.
  3. Survivability. HP and DEF on supports, and enough on damage dealers to live through one boss volley.
  4. Sets. Speed, Perception, Regeneration, Immortal — nothing fancy, but it works on every stage.

Tactics on waves and on stage 21

Waves are won with tempo: speed up first, drop AoE second, finish third. Do not dump your AoE on the first enemy you see — late waves come in tight groups, so wait until they are stacked. Save revival for an actual emergency, not for turn one.

Walk into the final boss with cooldowns ready: apply debuffs first, then hit with single-target damage. If the boss survives into a second rotation, you are usually short on either Accuracy for the debuffs or Speed on your support.

Common mistakes

  • Building five champions at once and finishing none.
  • Ignoring Accuracy, then wondering why debuffs never land.
  • Burning revival on waves and reaching the boss without a safety net.
  • Running damage dealers without support — such a team dies to the first volley.

Summary

High Elves forgive a lot, but they do not forgive missing Speed and Accuracy. Build the core around Arbiter or Lyssandra, add Talenna or Vergis for survivability, Tayrel for debuffs and one or two damage dealers — and stage 21 falls without heroics. Add the remaining legendaries and mythicals as resources appear, not the other way round.
