Baerdal Fellhammer — guide
Guide: Baerdal Fellhammer
In short
Baerdal Fellhammer is an Epic Dwarf Attack champion whose whole kit revolves around his passive: he sits on Counterattack almost permanently and keeps swinging. Ratings put him at a middling 2.5 overall, with his best showings in Hydra (3.0) and Faction Wars (2.5). Build him if you need a damage dealer for Hydra/Faction Wars and a Fire Knight's Castle body — priority goes to Speed, crit and staying alive.
Strengths
- His passive puts Counterattack on him at the start of every round and again at the end of his own turn, so extra hits come almost constantly — especially against bosses with AoE.
- A2 hits 3 times and grants a Shield worth 30% of the damage dealt for 3 turns: damage and survivability in one button.
- The same passive gives allies +32% ATK in Dungeons — a team-wide buff, not just a selfish one.
- A1 hits twice with a 30% chance per hit to place 100% Heal Reduction for 2 turns, which matters against anything that heals.
Weaknesses
- Thin base stats: 1 398 ATK, 826 DEF and only 94 SPD — slow and squishy out of the box, everything comes from gear and masteries.
- Heal Reduction is only a 30% chance per hit and wants Accuracy, so it lands inconsistently.
- Arena and Clan Boss sit at 2.0, Doom Tower at 1.0 — that is not his territory.
- His value depends on being hit: against enemies that ignore him, the Counterattack does far less work.
Where to use
Hydra (3.0) is his best home: counterattacks, the A2 Shield and the ATK buff stack into steady damage. Then Faction Wars (2.5) and Chimera (2.5). Fire Knight's Castle deserves a mention — multi-hit A1/A2 plus counterattacks chew through the boss shield fast. Clan Boss, Arena and regular Dungeons are all 2.0, so usable but unremarkable; skip Doom Tower (1.0).
Stats and gear
Priority: SPD around 170–190 so he cycles and re-shields, 100% C.RATE, 150–200%+ C.DMG, and as much ATK as you can stack. ACC is optional — around 100–150 if you actually want the Heal Reduction to stick, otherwise ignore it.
- Sets: Offense or Divine Offense for damage, Speed or Divine Speed for tempo.
- Lifesteal is a solid pick for long fights where he lives off counterattacks.
- Do not neglect DEF/HP substats: with 826 DEF and 16k HP he folds to any AoE.
Masteries and blessings
Go down the Offense tree and take Pierce Defenses and Boss Slayer; spend the rest on survivability and Speed so he actually survives to counterattack. The list gives no blessing recommendations, so pick a standard damage-dealer blessing that fits your content.
Tombs
Book A2 first up to level 6 for the -1 cooldown — that means the Shield and the triple hit come around more often. After that, books into A1 for the extra +10% Heal Reduction chance if you are counting on it.
Verdict
A middling Epic but a genuinely good damage dealer: worth building if you have a slot for him — Hydra, Faction Wars and Fire Knight pay back the investment.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
