Norog — guide
Guide: Norog
In short
Norog is a Legendary Defense champion who lives off his +40% DEF Dungeon aura and a passive that cuts damage taken by allies. He shines in Faction Wars and Hydra, and is a solid mid-tier everywhere else. Build priority: Defense and Speed, and don't sink Tomes into him.
Strengths
- “Thick Skin” passive: immunity to Stun, Freeze and Sleep, plus 15% damage reduction for allies with at least one buff and 25% for allies with no active buffs.
- +40% DEF aura in Dungeons — a free boost for the whole team, especially in Faction Wars.
- A2 “Ice Pillar” — AoE with Block Buffs for 2 turns, great for shutting down buffers in Hydra and Arena.
- A1 “Mace” with a 40% chance to place Block Active Skills — a nice bonus against champions and bosses with strong actives.
- His damage scales off DEF, so the tank contributes real damage while soaking hits.
Weaknesses
- A weak Legendary: no area reaches a 5 rating.
- Low base stats — 1,299 DEF and 106 Speed mean a long gearing grind.
- Block Active Skills is only a 40% chance, so you need high Accuracy for it to land.
- Tomes are expensive for modest returns — the author advises against investing.
Where to use
Faction Wars first (4.5/5) — his aura and passive carry there. Then Hydra (4.0) for Block Buffs and the ally damage reduction. Chimera and Arena sit at 3.5, purely situational. Clan Boss, Dungeons, Hard mode and Doom Tower (3.0 each) are not his territory — slot him only if you have nobody better.
Stats and gear
Priority: DEF → Speed → Accuracy → HP. Targets: DEF 4,000+ (ideally 4,500–5,000), Speed 200–250, Accuracy 200–250 for Hydra (300+ at high levels), HP 50,000+. Crit Rate and Crit Damage are irrelevant — he isn't a damage build. Sets: Defense, Speed, Lifesteal, Attack.
Masteries and blessings
From the author's build: Pierce Defenses, Expeditious Exploitation, Gathering Momentum, Boss Slayer — leaning into survivability and DEF-based damage. Relics: Malefic Talon, Irethi Coronet, Perched Shadow.
Tombs
Don't invest Tomes — that's the author's call. If you do use him in Hydra, book A2 “Ice Pillar” first for the -1 cooldown: more frequent Block Buffs. Everything else comes after the important champs in your roster.
Verdict
Vault him (or use him as fusion fodder). Keep him for Faction Wars and, if you like, Hydra — nothing more.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
