Guide: Septimus

In short

Septimus is a Legendary Spirit Attack champion from the Banner Lords, packing a flat +23% ATK aura in all battles. He shines in dungeons and against bosses with big health pools: Holy Sword hits harder the higher the target's MAX HP and ignores Shield and Block Damage. Build him as a pure damage dealer — crit, attack, speed.

Strengths

  • Holy Sword ignores Shield and Block Damage and scales off the target's MAX HP (2.5 × ATK + 0.1 × target MAX HP), breaking mechanics other damage dealers stall on.
  • The Giant Slayer passive adds +30% damage against enemies above 50% HP, so his opening hit is always boosted.
  • The same passive has a 30% chance to extend all debuffs on the target by 1 turn — a great fit for debuff-heavy boss teams (Clan Boss, Hydra).
  • Execution resets Holy Sword's cooldown and grants an extra turn on a kill, so dungeon waves can eat two heavy hits in a row.
  • +23% ATK aura in all battles frees up the aura slot and speeds up the whole team.

Weaknesses

  • Base ATK is only 1674 — you have to stack attack from gear.
  • No debuffs or control of his own; he is pure damage and needs the team around him.
  • Value drops in Hard content (3.0), where enemies are tanky and his own survivability is low.
  • Crit-dependent and gear-hungry: damage is shaky without books and decent artifacts.

Where to use

Dungeons first (4.0): Minotaur's Labyrinth, Spider's Den, Bommal and Grythion, where targets have huge health pools. Also strong in Hydra (4.0) and Faction Wars (4.0). Middling in Clan Boss (3.5), Arena (3.5) and Doom Tower (3.5) — his MAX HP scaling works on Clan Boss, but without debuffs he is not a top pick there. Weakest in Hard mode (3.0).

Stats and gear

Priority: C.RATE to 100%, then C.DMG, ATK% and SPD. Rough targets: 100% C.RATE, 200%+ C.DMG, 3500–4000+ ATK, 170–200 SPD (higher if you want Holy Sword up more often). ACC and RES are not needed — he brings no debuffs of his own. Sets: Crit Damage, Savage, Cruel, Lethal, Merciless.

Masteries and blessings

Offense tree: Pierce Defenses, Foekiller, Piercing Strike, Bloodthirsty Prowess, Boss Slayer. Blessings: Crushing Rend (the default for dungeons and bosses), Heavencast, Lightning Cage. Relics: Malefic Talon, The Cat's Gaze, Gorecrescent.

Tomes

He needs 8 Legendary Tomes in total. Skill levels only add damage (+5/+10%) with no cooldown cuts, so books here are a pure damage investment. Max Holy Sword first since it is his main damage source, then dump the rest into Execution.

Verdict

Build him — a top Legendary for dungeons who delivers against bosses with large health pools.
