Boragar the Elder — guide
Guide: Boragar the Elder
In short
Boragar the Elder is a Legendary Dwarf support who scales off HP: a Shield worth 20% of his max HP plus a full-team package of Defense, Speed and Resistance buffs. He is at his best in Faction Wars and Hydra, where that survivability actually matters. The site's verdict is straightforward — vault (fusion); build him only for Faction Wars.
Strengths
- Soul Stone does two jobs at once: it strips a random debuff from every ally and immediately puts a 20% max-HP Shield on the whole team for 2 turns.
- Energy Rune gives the team +50% Resistance and +30% Speed for 2 turns, and tomes cut the cooldown from 6 to 4 turns, so the buffs stay up almost permanently.
- Passive Boragar's Crest: allies take 10% less damage from enemies whose Resistance is lower than or equal to theirs — permanent damage reduction in a high-RES setup.
- Ancient Staff can put a 60% Defense buff on the lowest-HP ally, and a critical hit makes that chance 100% — Shield and Defense cover each other.
- A solid 4/5 in Faction Wars: one slot covers both survival and buffs for a Dwarf team.
Weaknesses
- 97 base Speed is very low for a support with 2-turn buffs — without Speed gear he simply cannot re-apply them in time.
- The passive lives and dies by your team's Resistance; in a random squad the bonus may never trigger.
- Ancient Staff cannot target himself, and the guaranteed buff demands Crit. Rate investment that competes with HP and Speed.
- No heal, no full cleanse (only one random debuff removed) and no control — his value in dungeons and against the Clan Boss is modest at 3/5.
Where to use
Start with Faction Wars (4/5) and Hydra (4/5) — that is where his Shield, debuff removal and Speed/Resistance buffs are genuinely wanted. Chimera and Arena come next (3.5/5 each): in Arena he is a buffer for a slow, tanky high-RES team, not a speed team. Clan Boss, dungeons, Hard mode and Doom Tower are all 3/5 — you have better options there.
Stats and gear
Priority: HP → Speed → Resistance, with Crit. Rate as an optional extra. He needs no Accuracy at all: he places no debuffs on enemies, only buffs on allies. Rough targets: 60–80k+ HP, 200–250 Speed, 300+ Resistance so the passive works against most enemies; take Crit. Rate to 70–100% only if you want the guaranteed Ancient Staff buff. Sets: Speed, Immortal, Life, Defense. Relics: Wand of Submission, Hand of Uncreation, Tempus Morbidia.
Masteries and blessings
The PVE spread runs down the Support tree: Invigorated, Unstoppable, Power Reset, Gathering Momentum — tuned for dungeons, Clan Boss, Doom Tower and Faction Wars. Arena wants a separate PVP setup leaning on high Resistance. Blessings are secondary here; get the relics on him instead: Wand of Submission, Hand of Uncreation or Tempus Morbidia.
Tombs
Book Energy Rune first: its two cooldown levels take it from 6 to 4 turns, so Speed and Resistance stay up almost without gaps. Then Soul Stone, whose last levels add +20% Shield and −1 turn cooldown. Ancient Staff comes last — only buff chance and damage. Given the verdict, honestly, skip the tomes.
Verdict
A tidy support for Faction Wars and Hydra, but not a universal pick: if your Dwarves and Hydra are already covered, he is vault material and fusion fodder.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
