Live Arena: real-time PvP beta begins

On April 3, 2023, RAID: Shadow Legends released update 7.00, and the headline change was the start of the Live Arena beta — a real-time PvP mode. For the first time, players could fight 4v4 battles against live opponents and go through a draft phase before combat.

What's new

  • Live Arena beta launch: real-time 4v4 PvP.
  • Draft before battle, so teams are built around both picks and counter-picks.
  • Seven new champions arrived in update 7.00.
  • Later, Live Arena became a permanent mode and Great Hall bonuses were split.
  • New Impulse and Zeal gear sets were also added.

What it means for players

Live Arena changes how PvP feels: the draft adds a layer of planning, and real-time turns make each match more about decisions than about a pre-set defense. Beginners can learn role value and synergy, though the mode is less forgiving than asynchronous Arena when draft or opening moves go wrong. Experienced PvP players get more control, less reliance on prepared defenses, and a fresh reason to revisit their builds.

The seven new champions widen draft options and team experiments. Splitting Great Hall bonuses later made progress across modes more independent, while Impulse and Zeal sets opened new gear builds to test with different compositions. Clan players may find the mode useful for practicing team thinking, and anyone who enjoys live competition should try the beta and judge the pace for themselves.
