Guide: Hellfang

In short

Hellfang is a Rare Attack champion from the Demons faction whose main selling point is a +21% Attack aura for allies in Dungeons. As a fighter he is weak: ratings sit below 2 out of 5 almost everywhere, and his third skill only unlocks if Cerberus is on the team.

Building him as a serious damage dealer is a waste — he is fusion material and food. If you do level him for Faction Wars, keep it simple: Attack, Crit Rate to 100%, then Crit Damage.

Strengths

  • +21% Attack aura for allies in Dungeons — the one thing that works without any gear investment.
  • Hunter's Mark has a 50% chance to place 25% Weaken for 1 turn — a small but real debuff for a damage team.
  • Rend has a 15% chance to put the target's skills on cooldown, which occasionally disrupts bosses and tanks.
  • Chilling Howl hits all enemies with a 50% chance to Freeze for 1 turn — strong crowd control on paper.
  • Spirit affinity: strong against Force, weak against Magic, so Faction Wars sometimes gives him a decent matchup.

Weaknesses

  • Chilling Howl only works with Cerberus in the team — practically impossible to slot into a normal comp.
  • Low base Attack (1,233 at 6★) and thin HP pool: the damage is small even in decent gear.
  • Every debuff lasts 1 turn and lands at 15–50% — no consistency at all.
  • Brings nothing to Clan Boss, Hydra or Chimera: 2.0 / 1.0 / 0.5 out of 5.

Where to use

  • Arena (2/5) — the only place where the Freeze from his third skill can still swing something, and only next to Cerberus.
  • Clan Boss (2/5) — for the aura and the occasional cooldown reset from his A1, nothing more.
  • Faction Wars (1.5/5) — a body for the aura and a filler slot for Demons.
  • Dungeons, Doom Tower, Hard mode, Hydra, Chimera (1.0 and below) — the slot is better spent on anyone else.

Stats and gear

Priority: Crit Rate to 100% → Attack → Crit Damage → Speed (170–200). Accuracy only matters if you actually want the debuffs to land — 200+ for dungeons, otherwise skip it. Add HP and Defence just so he survives the first AoE.

Sets: Attack and Crit Rate early on, then Crit Damage and Speed; Lifesteal is a fine pick for Faction Wars survivability. From the relic list, use Molten Deathbell and Malefic Talon.

Masteries and blessings

  • Offense tree: In For The Kill and Pierce Defenses, plus the usual Crit Rate / Crit Damage nodes.
  • Second tree: Support or Defence — Speed/Accuracy or raw survivability, depending on where you use him.
  • Blessings: not worth it on a food champion. If you keep him around, take a cheap offensive one; high levels are a waste of resources.

Tomes

Don't bother. The only meaningful upgrade is the cooldown reduction on Hunter's Mark (level 7), and the two cooldown cuts on Chilling Howl are dead weight without Cerberus. Spend tomes on a real damage dealer.

Verdict

Vault — fusion material and food. Keep him only for the Dungeon aura or a Faction Wars slot; serious investment is not worth it.
