Hellfreak — guide
Guide: Hellfreak
In short
Hellfreak is a Rare Attack champion of the Demons faction with Spirit affinity, a +10% Speed aura in all battles, and two gimmicky buttons: a double-hitting default attack with a chance to drop 60% Decrease DEF, and a buff-stealing nuke. He only really shows up in Faction Wars and early dungeons. Build priority is Speed and Accuracy, but there is little point investing heavily: the site author's verdict is food.
Strengths
- +10% Speed aura in all battles — a nice free bonus for a starter roster.
- His A1 hits twice and, fully booked, has a 40% chance to place 60% Decrease DEF for 2 turns — decent for a Rare.
- A2 steals all buffs from the target with up to a 75% chance before hitting for 5.3× ATK — strips shields and buffs and punishes immediately.
- A3 swaps health with the enemy and grants an extra turn — occasionally steals a long fight.
- 2.5/5 in Faction Wars — his best mode by far.
Weaknesses
- Weak base stats: 1,365 ATK and 650 DEF — he folds to almost anything.
- A3 is a coin flip: the health swap can leave him on a sliver of HP in the middle of a fight.
- Ratings: 0.5 in Doom Tower, 1.0 in Hydra, Chimera and Arena — he has no business there.
- The author states plainly: do not use him in PvP.
Where to use
Faction Wars (2.5/5) is the honest answer — there he clears early stages as an aura carrier with a debuff. Dungeons (2.0/5) only at the first levels before you have real damage dealers. Clan Boss (1.5/5) only if you have nothing else for the slot. Arena, Hydra, Chimera (1.0) and Doom Tower (0.5) are not his territory: he either dies or never gets a turn.
Stats and gear
Priority: Speed → Accuracy → C.RATE → C.DMG → ATK. Rough targets: 190–220 Speed for dungeons, 150–200 Accuracy so the A1 debuff and the A2 steal actually land, C.RATE toward 100%, then C.DMG. Don't ignore HP entirely — the A3 swap depends on it. Sets from the list: Speed, Accuracy, Perception or Offense. Gloves with C.RATE/C.DMG, ATK% chest, ATK or HP ring.
Masteries and blessings
Trees: Attack (damage on A1/A2) plus Support (Accuracy and survivability). Key mastery from the list: Pierce Defenses. Relic from the list: Malefic Talon. Blessings are not a priority on him — he rarely lives long enough for one to matter, so don't sink resources there.
Tombs
If you absolutely must book him, put them into A2: the buff-steal chance goes up and the cooldown drops, and that's the only thing that genuinely changes his value. Realistically though, tomes are scarce and wasted on food — give them to a proper damage dealer.
Verdict
The author's verdict is food, and it's hard to argue. Keep him for Faction Wars and early dungeons, and feed him to a real champion the rest of the time.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
