Altan — guide
Guide: Altan
In short
Altan is a Legendary Defense champion of the Barbarians with the Magic affinity: a +33% Defense aura for all allies in every battle, an Attack Down debuff on his A1, and a team-wide Increase Defense with a Shield. His main stage is Clan Boss, where he keeps the Attack Down up and stops the team from folding; he is also solid in Faction Wars. Build priority: Defense, Speed and Accuracy.
Strengths
- +33% DEF aura for all allies in every battle — a free bonus for Clan Boss, Faction Wars and Doom Tower.
- A1 places Attack Down 50% for 2 turns with a 60% chance (70% after tomes) — the key debuff against Clan Boss.
- Fire Wall grants allies Increase Defense 60% for 2 turns, and on a kill it adds a Shield equal to 20% of each ally's MAX HP.
- His damage scales off Defense (3.3× and 5.6× DEF), so the tank hits while staying bulky.
- Passive revives a random ally with 30% HP and resets his cooldowns when he kills an enemy while all allies are alive.
Weaknesses
- Low base Speed of 102 — without Speed gear he moves last.
- The passive depends on kills, so it almost never triggers against bosses.
- No AoE damage and no control beyond single-target Attack Down.
- Nearly useless in Hydra (2.0/5): single-target hits with nothing to counter its mechanics.
Where to use
Best spot is Clan Boss (4.5/5), where his Attack Down and Increase Defense carry the run. Next come Faction Wars (3.5) and Chimera (3.5), where the aura and survivability matter. Arena, Dungeons, Doom Tower and Hard modes are a solid mid-tier (3.0). From the listed targets he is made for Clan Boss and Agreth. Don't count on him in Hydra (2.0).
Stats and gear
Base: 1 398 DEF, 20 145 HP, 102 SPD. Aim for DEF 3 500–4 000+ (the aura pushes the team even higher), SPD 180–220 for Clan Boss, ACC 200–250 — without it the Attack Down won't land on the boss. C.RATE and C.DMG are not a priority (base 15%/57%); put leftovers into HP and Resistance.
Sets: Defense, Accuracy and Speed as the core; Lifesteal for early Clan Boss sustain; Divine Speed and Perception as alternatives when you're short on Speed or Accuracy.
Masteries and blessings
Main tree is Offense: Pierce Defenses and Boss Slayer from the list give a steady damage bump against high-DEF targets and bosses. Fill the rest with the standard picks — Defense tree for survivability and Support for Accuracy if you're short on it.
Blessings: Heavencast as the default; Brimstone as the alternative if you want extra damage. Relics: Malefic Talon, Irethi Coronet, The Cat's Gaze.
Tomes
Book Fire Wall first: at level 5 the tome removes 1 turn of cooldown, and that skill is both the team's Increase Defense and the Shield. Then work on the A1 — the two +5% debuff chance upgrades take Attack Down to 70%, which matters a lot for Clan Boss. The site author is blunt about it: pour the books in.
Verdict
A top-tier legendary for Clan Boss — worth maxing and booking, since the aura and Attack Down pay off in every boss fight.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
