Grunch Killjoy — guide
Guide: Grunch Killjoy
In short
Grunch Killjoy is an Epic Force champion from Ogryn Tribes with a Support role. His real job is stripping debuffs off the team and bringing a +30% DEF aura to Faction Wars Crypts, so he lives in FW and easy PvE. Build priority: Speed → Accuracy → survivability; damage is pointless on him.
Strengths
- Corruption Absorption removes all debuffs from all allies, then places one 15% Regeneration for 1 turn per debuff removed — one of the better epic-level mass cleanses.
- The Freak passive fills the whole team's turn meter by 10% every time a Bomb explodes on an enemy.
- Burning Ire is an AoE Bomb at 50% (65% with books), and Mace of Madness lands Block Buffs at 40%.
- The +30% DEF aura in Faction Wars Crypts makes him useful in FW straight away.
- Force affinity holds up fine against Spirit waves.
Weaknesses
- Everything scales off ATK with a 969 base — his bombs and A1 hit softly.
- 102 base Speed and modest HP/DEF: he won't tank, he needs survivability gear.
- The passive does nothing without bomb champions in the team.
- Almost no value in Hydra (1.0), and he is a filler at best on Hard and Clan Boss.
Where to use
Best home is Faction Wars Crypts (3.5) — aura, cleanse and Block Buffs in one slot. Then Arena and Dungeons (3.0) as a support for bomb teams or against debuff-heavy enemies. Chimera and Doom Tower (2.5) are filler spots; Clan Boss and Hard (2.0) are not his content. Hydra (1.0) is a hard no. The author also flags Bommal as a niche use, where his passive plays off bomb explosions.
Stats and gear
- Speed: aim for 200–220+ so the cleanse lands before the second debuff wave.
- Accuracy: 200–250 — both Block Buffs and Bomb placement depend on it.
- HP/DEF: as high as you can, roughly 40–50K HP or 2K+ DEF.
- C.RATE, C.DMG and Resistance are leftovers.
- Sets: Speed, Perception, Accuracy, plus Immortal or Regeneration for staying power.
- Relics from the build list: Journal of Necrotos, Perched Shadow.
Masteries and blessings
Go down the Support tree: Rapid Response, Lay on Hands, Cycle of Magic, Lasting Gifts and Timely Intervention to keep the cleanse cycling. From the build list: Invigorated, Expeditious Exploitation, Gathering Momentum. Blessings are not a priority — take whatever adds survivability.
Tombs
Book Corruption Absorption first: two books cut the cooldown from 6 to 4, and that skill is the reason to bring him. Then Burning Ire (Bomb chance up to 65%, -1 cooldown at level 9). Mace of Madness last.
Verdict
A middling fusion Epic: keep him for the FW aura and the cleanse, but he doesn't belong in serious content — vault material.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.

Grinch Thief is an Epic Force hero from the Ogryn Tribes faction. Being, obviously, a clear reference to Dr. Seuss's character, namely the Grinch Who Stole Christmas, he reminds us that his addition to the game was tied to the themed New Year 2020 events. The huge green ogre has clearly already collected stolen trophies with gifts and is preparing to go into battle with an impressive arsenal of loot. Grinch's skills, such as Continuous Heal, Block Buffs, and removing debuffs, testify to his Support role in Raid Shadow Legends. In addition, he has the ability to place excellent Bombs and fill the Turn Meter of the entire team.
