Grumbler — guide
Guide: Grumbler
In short
Grumbler is a Rare HP-role Dwarf with a team shield and a +25% HP aura in Dungeons. His only real uses are Faction Wars and a budget Clan Boss slot thanks to Heal Reduction. Build HP and Speed, but don't sink resources into him.
Strengths
- A3 shields the whole team for 25% of his max HP for 2 turns and gives him +30% DEF — decent safety net early on.
- A2 applies a 50% Heal Reduction debuff for 2 turns, which is the main reason to bring him to Clan Boss.
- A1 puts a 10% max-HP shield on himself, so he soaks damage on his own.
- Aura: +25% HP for allies in Dungeons — passive value for Faction Wars.
- Damage on both attacks scales off HP and DEF, so one stat spread covers survival and damage at once.
Weaknesses
- 95 base Speed is very low; he needs a lot of Speed gear just to cycle his shield.
- Weak multipliers — he is not a damage dealer in any content.
- Rare base stats and a one-dimensional kit.
- Nearly dead weight in Hydra, Chimera, regular Dungeons and Hard mode.
Where to use
Clan Boss is his best spot (3.5/5): Heal Reduction plus shields. Faction Wars (2.5/5) next, where the aura and shield plug a hole in a thin Dwarf roster. Arena (2/5) and Doom Tower (1.5/5) only if you have nothing better. Dungeons, Hard, Hydra (1/5) and Chimera (0.5/5) are not his content.
Stats and gear
Priority: HP% first (shields and damage both scale off it), then Speed — aim for 170–200 so A3 comes back reliably. ACC 200+ so Heal Reduction actually lands on Clan Boss. DEF% is a solid third stat since damage scales off it too. Ignore C.RATE and C.DMG entirely.
Sets: Life, Immortal, Speed, Accuracy. Relics: Golden Elixir, Gilded Dragonstone.
Masteries and blessings
Go down the Defense tree: Invigorated, Survival Speed, Strengthening Will, Unflinching. That is enough — his job is to live long enough to hand out shields. Blessings aren't worth it at this level of investment; the relics above give more.
Tomes
Book A3 first: the two cooldown reductions are the only real upgrades he has, meaning more shield uptime. Books in A1 and A2 only add damage. If he's purely a Faction Wars filler, save your tomes for someone better.
Verdict
Fodder. Keep one copy for Faction Wars if your Dwarf roster is thin, otherwise feed him.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
