Inquisitor Shamael — guide
Guide: Inquisitor Shamael
In short
Inquisitor Shamael is an epic Void damage dealer from the Sacred Order who excels in Hydra. His passive removes Fear from allies and boosts their Turn Meter, while counterattacking when enemies place debuffs and a massive ignore-DEF A2 make him a top-tier damage dealer.
Strengths
- Master in Hydra: counterattacks whenever allies receive debuffs (very frequent), fear removal and TM boost, and huge ignore-DEF damage on A2.
- A2 ignores 25% of target's DEF and an additional 25% per buff on Shamael – with enough buffs he can virtually pierce any armor.
- Passive Turn Meter fill on each critical hit (7.5%) lets him cycle turns quickly.
- True Fear on killing with A2 provides excellent wave and arena control.
- Void affinity avoids weak hits.
Weaknesses
- Without buffs, A2 only ignores 25% DEF; relies on ally buffs (ideally Archmage Hellmut) to reach full potential.
- Counterattack from A1 cannot crit, dealing only half damage of a normal hit.
- Low base SPED (101) demands good speed gear.
- Requires ACC to land True Fear from A2, otherwise the control fails.
Where to use
Best area – Hydra (5/5). Also great in Arena (4/5) against debuff-heavy teams, Faction Wars (4/5) and Chimera (4/5). Decent in Clan Boss (3/5), Dungeons (3/5) and Doom Tower (3/5), but struggles in Hard DT (2/5).
Stats and gear
Priority stats: ATK%, SPED, C.RATE, C.DMG, ACC. Targets: 100% C.RATE, as much C.DMG as possible, 200+ SPED for Hydra, 250+ ACC for your content. Recommended set – Lethal (4 pieces give +12% C.RATE and +30% C.DMG). Other pieces should focus on speed and attack.
Masteries and blessings
Trees: Offense and Support. Key masteries: Pierce Defenses (chance to ignore DEF), Foekiller (extra damage vs low HP), Piercing Strike (more damage to buffless targets), Bloodthirsty Prowess (ATK boost on crits), Blessed Heal (heal on debuff removal). Heal 'N' Go synergizes well with buffers like Hellmut. Blessing: Brimstone for extra Hydra damage, or Phantom Touch for additional hits.
Tomes
Prioritize Inspire Terror (A2) for maximum damage, then Chastisement (A1) to increase buff reduction chance and damage. The passive doesn't need tomes.
Verdict
Top-tier epic for Hydra with unique mechanics that can single-handedly protect your team from Fear while dealing massive damage. Definitely worth building, especially if you're pushing Hydra. Pairs perfectly with Archmage Hellmut.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
