Guide: Flailer

In short

Flailer is a Rare Magic Defense dwarf whose only real selling point is his Faction Crypts defense aura. His damage and buffs scale off DEF, but the base numbers are so low that he barely functions outside FW. Build him only for Faction Wars or as fusion fodder for Astralon, stacking DEF and Speed.

Strengths

  • Aura: +17% Defense for the whole team in Faction Crypts — the main reason to keep him.
  • Wild Swing has a 75% chance to place Provoke for 1 turn and hits for 6.3× DEF, so a tanky build still controls a wave.
  • Stately Pose gives a 30% Defense buff for 2 turns to himself and the ally with the lowest HP, plus 25% turn meter to himself.
  • DEF-based damage means you can build him purely survivable without losing all his output.
  • He is part of the Astralon fusion, which is sometimes worth more than his own kit.

Weaknesses

  • Poor base stats: 1 035 DEF and 93 Speed — slow and not especially tough for a Defender.
  • The 10% turn meter reduction on his A1 only has a 25% chance — it rarely matters.
  • No AoE, no heal, no cleanse — useless in dungeons and against bosses.
  • Almost zero value in Arena and Clan Boss (0.5 and 1.0).

Where to use

Best spot is Faction Crypts (2.0), where his aura and Provoke can actually help clear stages. In Chimera (1.5) he can fill a slot as a Defense-buff body if your roster is thin. Skip dungeons, Clan Boss, Hydra, Doom Tower and Arena (0.5–1.0).

Stats and gear

Priority: DEF (2 000–3 000+), then Speed 150–170, HP 35–45k, Accuracy 100–150 for Provoke. Resistance is optional for higher waves. Ignore C.RATE and C.DMG.

  • Sets: Lifesteal, Immortal, Resilience.
  • Main stats: DEF% on gloves and chest, Speed on boots.

Masteries and blessings

Go Defense and Support trees so he survives long enough to Provoke. From the build list the key nodes are In For The Kill and Puppetmaster. Relics: Molten Deathbell, Mask of Rage.

Tombs

Books are not worth it — he is food. If you must, book Stately Pose first (cooldown -1) so the Defense buff stays up more often, then Wild Swing.

Verdict

Fodder. Keep one copy for Faction Crypts and the Astralon fusion, feed the rest.

Flailer

Flail is a Rare Magic affinity Defense hero from the Dwarves faction of the Nyresan Union in Raid Shadow Legends. Flail is part of the Fusion for the hero Astralon. This dwarf wears black armor and a horned helmet, with a Defense aura in the Faction Crypts. As with other Defense heroes, his masteries are best chosen to make him tanky, such as Tough Skin, Immortal, Life, and of course not forgetting Speed and Life Steal to restore health.
