Cultist — guide
Guide: Cultist
In short
Cultist is an Uncommon Force Attack champion with a two-hit single-target A1 and one AoE that has a small chance to poison. Every rating on the site sits between 0.5 and 1.5, so he is early-game filler at best. Build priority is speed and accuracy — but only if you genuinely have to field him.
Strengths
- His second skill hits all enemies, which is enough for the first dungeon stages and early campaign waves.
- His only debuff, Poison 2.5% for 2 turns, is at least AoE — it tags the whole wave.
- Fully booked, the AoE loses 1 turn of cooldown, so he gets more attempts at the poison.
- In Faction Wars (1.5/5) he can hold a free slot until you pull real champions for the faction.
- Cheap to level: Uncommon tomes and food are everywhere, so little is wasted.
Weaknesses
- A 25% base chance to place poison (40% fully booked) is unreliable — plenty of waves end with zero debuffs.
- Poison 2.5% is the weakest tier; the damage is negligible even when it stacks.
- Thin base stats: 1167 ATK, 84 SPD, 760 DEF and no inherent Accuracy — he hits soft and dies fast.
- The author states plainly that he is not recommended for PvP, and the overall score is 0.5/5.
Where to use
His best areas, by his own low standards, are Faction Wars and Chimera at 1.5/5 each. Next come Clan Boss, Arena, Dungeons and campaign Hard mode at 1.0 — meaning last resort. Hydra and Doom Tower are 0.5; do not bring him there. Keep him out of Arena entirely.
Stats and gear
The author’s build list has no recommended sets, which fits a food champion. If you must gear him, aim for general targets: 130–160 SPD so he acts before the wave, 100–150 ACC for your current content, then ATK and C.DMG. Generic sets are fine — Speed, Perception, Accuracy — as long as you get speed and accuracy on the key slots. Don’t push the gear quality; he is a stepping stone.
Masteries and blessings
There are two setups: PvE (Dungeons, Clan Boss, Doom Tower, Faction Wars) and PvP (Arena 1v1 and 3v3), but the PvP route is not advised. For PvE take the Offense tree with Deadly Precision and Warmaster (for Clan Boss), and Support with Pinpoint Accuracy, Sniper for debuff chances and Cycle of Magic for the AoE cooldown. Skip blessings — souls on an Uncommon are wasted resources.
Tomes
If you invest at all, book the second skill only: the last levels add +15% debuff chance and −1 cooldown, which is the entire reason to use him. The first skill gains damage only and needs no books. Realistically, spend no tomes at all.
Verdict
Cultist is food: a weak AoE poison, thin base stats and ratings no gear can fix. Keep him for the earliest Faction Wars push, then feed him away.
