Woad-Painted — guide
Guide: Woad-Painted
In short
Woad-Painted is an Epic Barbarian HP-type champion with Spirit affinity. After the buff he is a durable, self-sufficient bruiser: his damage scales off his own MAX HP, he lands Block Active Skills for 2 turns, and he fully cleanses and heals himself. Build him for Hydra and Faction Wars, prioritising HP, Speed and Accuracy in gear.
Strengths
- Subjugation hits for damage based on his MAX HP and has a 75% chance to place Block Active Skills for 2 turns — that is real control, not decoration.
- Boiling Anger removes all debuffs from himself, fully heals him and gives him 30% Reflect Damage for 2 turns: he climbs out of any debuff pile on his own.
- 19,815 base HP means he survives an opening burst even in mid-tier gear and still gets a turn.
- The buff made him genuinely worth building — the site author rates him "build him" and suggests testing him next to Latnik.
Weaknesses
- No team buffs, shields or heals — every bit of support is self-only.
- 97 Speed and 969 Defence: slow and squishy on base stats, he does nothing without gear investment.
- His damage sits on one skill with a cooldown, so he will never be your damage dealer.
- Rated 2.0 for Chimera and Hard content — he is not a universal pick.
Where to use
He shines most in Hydra (3.5), where his survivability and Block Active Skills actually annoy the heads, and in Faction Wars (3.5) as a tanky controller. Arena, Dungeons, Clan Boss and Doom Tower are a solid 3.0 — useful, not mandatory. For Chimera and Hard content (2.0) bring someone else.
Stats and gear
- HP% first — aim for 60–80k+ with auras and buffs.
- Speed 170–200 so he moves before the enemy burst.
- Accuracy 200–250 to land Block Active Skills reliably in dungeons and Clan Boss; higher for Hard content.
- Critical Rate 50–70% and Critical Damage if you want Subjugation to hit; otherwise stack Defence and Resistance.
Sets: Life or Immortal for raw HP, Speed to fix his 97 base, Accuracy or Perception for the debuff. The listed relic picks are Journal of Necrotos and Perched Shadow.
Masteries and blessings
Go down the Support tree for Blessed Heal, Invigorated and Heal 'N' Go — they all feed his healing and staying power. A second tree into Defence suits his HP scaling, and if you use him in Clan Boss, Offense adds boss damage. For blessings, survivability matters more to him than damage.
Tomes
Book Subjugation first — all of his control and damage lives there, and a shorter cooldown is felt immediately. Second priority is Boiling Anger so he can cleanse more often and keep Reflect Damage up. Leave Cross Strike for last.
Verdict
After the buff he is a solid self-sufficient tank-controller for Hydra and Faction Wars — worth building, just don't expect an all-rounder.
