Marquis — guide
Guide: Marquis
In short
Marquis is a Rare Defense champion from the Demons faction with an ally HP aura. On paper he both controls (an AoE Sleep) and sustains himself (Counterattack plus Regeneration), but his chances and base stats are low. Only build him for Faction Wars, or keep him as fusion material.
Strengths
- +18% ally HP aura in all battles — a passive bonus that works even unleveled.
- His AoE hit has a 35% chance to place an unremovable Sleep for 1 turn; on trash waves it occasionally swings a fight.
- Infernal grants Counterattack and 15% Regeneration for 2 turns — decent self-support for Faction Wars.
- His A1 places a 15% Speed debuff when it crits, which helps against fast targets.
Weaknesses
- Every skill scales off ATK while his role is Defense: he either hits like nothing or folds.
- A flat 35% Sleep chance is unreliable — you cannot plan a fight around it.
- 1,013 base Defense and 16,845 HP is thin for a so-called tank.
- Ratings: Clan Boss 1.0, Hydra 1.0, Hard mode 1.0 — he is barely wanted anywhere.
Where to use
Faction Wars (2.0) is his home: the HP aura plus Counterattack and Regeneration self-support. Dungeons, Arena and Chimera sit at 2.0 — usable, but you always have someone better. Doom Tower is 1.5, so only early floors. Skip him for Clan Boss and Hydra (1.0) and Hard mode (1.0).
Stats and gear
Priority: Speed first, then Accuracy, then survivability. Rough 6★ targets: SPD 170–200, ACC 150–200 (for the Sleep on his AoE), HP 35–40k, DEF 2–2.5k. If you want the Speed debuff from his A1 to land, keep C.RATE around 50–70% — otherwise that skill does half its job. Sets: Life or Defense, Speed, and Perception for Accuracy; early on plain HP sets are fine.
Masteries and blessings
The build list gives one mastery, In For The Kill from the Offense tree — take it. Fill the rest the standard way: Defense tree for durability and debuff resistance, Support tree for damage reduction and cleanses. No blessing is listed, and it is not worth investing in one for a champion like this.
Tomes
Do not spend Tomes on Marquis — he belongs in the vault. If you insist, book the AoE first (Sleep chance and cooldown), then Infernal (cooldown), but those are wasted books.
Verdict
Vault (fusion): the aura and Sleep sound fine, but in practice he neither hits nor tanks. Keep him as fusion material.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
