Purgator — guide
Guide: Purgator
In short
Purgator is a Rare Magic Attack champion from the Sacred Order with three pure damage skills and no utility. He is only worth a look as an early Arena nuker or as a Sacred Order body in Faction Wars, so build priority is low — gear him only if you have nobody better. The site author's verdict: vault (fusion).
Strengths
- Inevitable Doom hits twice and ignores Shield, so Shield-reliant Arena defences can't blunt his A1.
- Great Cleansing is a real AoE nuke that gains up to +50% Critical Damage for every debuff sitting on Purgator himself.
- Subdue the Treacherous cuts the target's MAX HP by 20% of the damage dealt — annoying for fat tanks and HP-stacked healers.
- Rare rarity: cheap to ascend, and 15 Rare Tomes fully book all three skills.
- Magic affinity lines up well against Spirit-heavy defences.
Weaknesses
- Weak base stats: 1,409 Attack and 727 Defence — any AoE folds him, and without strong gear he hits softly.
- 94 Speed: without a Speed lead and booster he never takes a turn.
- Great Cleansing scales off debuffs on himself — a friendly cleanser or Immunity actually lowers his damage.
- No debuffs on enemies, no buffs for the team — useless against bosses (Hard 1.0, Hydra 1.5).
Where to use
His best spot is Arena (3.0): slot him as the nuker behind a Speed booster and AoE debuffs such as Decrease Defence. Next comes Faction Wars (2.5), where the Sacred Order simply needs damage. In dungeons, Doom Tower, Chimera and Clan Boss (2.0) he only cleans up what others started; in Hydra (1.5) and Hard mode (1.0) there is no place for him.
Stats and gear
Priority: Critical Rate to ~100%, then Attack and Critical Damage, Speed boots. Arena targets: 2,500+ Attack, 150%+ Critical Damage, 150–170 Speed under a booster, with just enough HP and Defence to survive the first wave. Accuracy is pointless — none of his skills place a debuff.
- Early game: Speed and Lifesteal sets to farm campaign.
- Arena: Savage or Cruel sets, Critical Rate gloves, Attack% chest.
- From the build list, use the Malefic Talon relic.
Masteries and blessings
- Take the Attack tree to the bottom — the key pick is Pierce Defenses, filling in Critical Rate, Critical Damage and Attack on the way.
- Second tree: Defence or Support — Purgator dies to the first AoE, so he wants HP and Resistance.
- Skip blessings entirely; a vault Rare doesn't justify them.
Tomes
If he actually plays Arena, book Great Cleansing (A2) first: level 6 gives the cooldown reduction, and every level before that adds +5% damage to the whole enemy team. Subdue the Treacherous second (cooldown reduction at level 7), Inevitable Doom last. Full booking costs 15 Rare Tomes — better saved for something that isn't vault material.
Verdict
A plain Rare nuker with poor base stats and zero utility: fine in low Arena leagues, otherwise vault or fusion fodder.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
