Chevalier — guide
Guide: Chevalier
In short
Chevalier is a Rare Banner Lords defense champion with Void affinity: both his attack skills scale off DEF, he brings a Stun and a team DEF Up + Regen buff. He only really shows up in Faction Wars, and even there he is unremarkable. Build priority is simple: DEF%, Speed, Accuracy — and nothing more.
Strengths
- One stat does two jobs: A1 and A2 both scale from Defense, so DEF gear covers damage and survivability at once.
- A1 hits twice with a 20% chance to repeat the attack, and it ignores Damage Block and Shield — occasionally slips through shield mechanics.
- A2 places a 1-turn Stun with a 50% chance, and its cooldown drops by 1 at level 5.
- A3 gives the whole team a 30% DEF Bonus and 7.5% Regen for 2 turns — a decent buff for Faction Crypts.
- Aura: +19% Ally Attack in Faction Crypts.
Weaknesses
- Poor base stats: 1,112 Defense and 98 Speed — he is neither a real tank nor a damage dealer.
- Single-target control on a 50% chance is unreliable.
- Nothing for bosses: no debuffs, no damage mitigation, no utility mechanic.
- Bottom-tier PvE ratings: Dungeons 1.0, Hydra 1.0, Chimera 1.5, Clan Boss 2.0.
Where to use
Faction Wars (2.5) is his best home: he fills a DEF-buffer slot and lands the occasional Stun. In Arena (1.5) he is only a budget defense buffer for early accounts. Do not bring him into Dungeons (1.0), Hydra (1.0), Chimera (1.5), Hard mode (1.0) or Doom Tower (1.0) — he just takes a slot.
Stats and gear
Priority: DEF% → Speed → HP% → Accuracy. Rough targets: 2,500–3,000 Defense, 170–200 Speed, 35–40k HP, 100–150 Accuracy (enough for Faction Crypts Stuns; higher floors want more). Ignore C.RATE and C.DMG — the 15%/50% base is not worth building around. Sets: Defense, Speed, Perception or Accuracy; Speed boots, DEF% gauntlets and chest.
Masteries and blessings
The listed build uses In For The Kill, Invigorated and Strengthening Will. For a buffing tank the Defense and Support trees are the core (survivability, damage reduction, cooldown cycling); In For The Kill only makes sense if you actually run him in Clan Boss for the Stun, in which case finish Offense with Warmaster. Listed relics: Molten Deathbell and Gilded Dragonstone.
Tombs
Do not feed him books — he is not worth it. If you must: skill 3 first, since a single book buys -1 cooldown on the team buff, the best value on the kit. Getting -1 cooldown on skill 2 costs five books, and skill 1 is pure damage.
Verdict
Fodder. Keep one copy in the Vault for Banner Lords Faction Wars and feed the rest.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
