RarePounder — guide
Guide: Pounder
In short
Pounder is a Rare Magic Attack champion from Ogryn Tribes whose damage scales off DEF. He brings a freeze and a Decrease ATK, but the numbers are so low that realistically he is Faction Wars filler and food. Build him only if you need Ogryn coverage or an early freeze unit.
Strengths
- His A2 has a 75% chance to freeze for 1 turn and reaches 100% with books — reliable single-target lockdown for a Rare.
- Damage is DEF-based, so a tanky build doubles as a damage build.
- Passive gives allies +15 RES for each active buff — small, but it adds up in long fights.
- Aura: +20% ATK for Magic allies in all battles, which occasionally matters in Faction Wars.
- A1 places a 25% Decrease ATK for 2 turns to blunt waves and boss hits.
Weaknesses
- Very low base stats for an Attack champion — no damage, no speed.
- DEF-scaling damage on a Rare multiplier hits for almost nothing.
- Decrease ATK is only a 25% chance on the A1, so it is unreliable.
- Single-target, 1-turn freeze with no AoE and no team utility beyond the RES passive.
- Ratings sit at 1.0–2.0: he is never a priority anywhere.
Where to use
Faction Wars (2.0) is the only place he is justified: Magic aura plus a freeze on one target. Everything else is 1.0–1.5 — dungeons, Arena, Clan Boss, Hydra, Chimera, Doom Tower and Hard mode are all a pass; there are far better Rares for those slots.
Stats and gear
Priority: DEF → SPD → ACC. Rough targets: 2000+ DEF, 170–200 SPD, 150–200 ACC for regular dungeons and 250+ for harder content; ignore C.RATE and C.DMG, the damage is negligible either way. Sets from the recommended build are Attack and Speed; in practice Speed plus Perception or Accuracy is better so you can stack ACC for the freeze. Relic: Molten Deathbell.
Masteries and blessings
Go down the Offense tree for In For The Kill, then take the standard damage and survivability picks; Support for ACC and SPD is a fine alternative. The recommended build lists no blessing, and it is not worth spending resources on one for this champion.
Tombs
Book the A2 first: the last level cuts 1 turn of cooldown and the books along the way push the freeze chance to 100% — that is the real upgrade. Then the A1 for the Decrease ATK chance. The passive takes no books. Honestly, save your Rare books for someone else.
Verdict
Food. Keep one copy for Ogryn Faction Wars if you are stuck on the faction.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
