Avir the Alchemage — guide
Guide: Avir the Alchemage
In short
Avir the Alchemage is a Rare Dwarf Support with Magic affinity: he heals the team for 15% of his MAX HP, fills everyone's Turn Meter by 15% and spreads Poison and Decrease ATK. His real home is the Clan Boss; elsewhere he is an average filler. Build Speed and Accuracy, ignore damage.
Strengths
- Elixirs of Life (A3) — a 15% MAX HP team heal plus 15% Turn Meter to the whole squad: very generous for a Rare.
- Noxious Catalysis (A2) — hits all enemies with a 50% chance of 25% Decrease ATK for 2 turns, and adds 15% Decrease SPD to anyone already under Poison.
- Bitter Brew (A1) — 30% chance to place a 5% Poison for 2 turns, steady extra damage on bosses.
- Rare rarity: cheap to book, easy to ascend, slots into a team fast.
Weaknesses
- All his damage scales off ATK, yet he is a healer by trade — almost no damage, so ATK is a wasted stat.
- Auto-battle hurts him: the AI does not always fire A3 when you need it, a point the author calls out.
- Hydra, Chimera and dungeons sit at 2.0 — he simply brings nothing there.
- 15% Turn Meter is modest next to top-tier supports, and he has no hard crowd control.
Where to use
Best slot is Clan Boss (3.5/5): Poison from A1, Decrease ATK from A2 and the heal from A3 cover three jobs at once. In the Arena (3.0) he works as a support behind your nukers — Decrease ATK plus healing. Doom Tower and Faction Wars (2.5) are situational; in Faction Wars he is one of the few healers the Dwarves can field. Dungeons, Hydra, Chimera and Hard mode (2.0) only if you have nobody better. Ranking fodder is easy to farm on Hard 2-12 (Rare Magic Heroes).
Stats and gear
Priority: SPD → ACC → HP → DEF. Rough targets: SPD 170–200+, ACC 200+ so his debuffs land on the Clan Boss, HP as high as possible (his heal scales off it), DEF as a second layer. Skip C.RATE and C.DMG entirely. Sets: Speed + Perception for accuracy, or Speed + Life/Immortal if he keeps dying. From the relic list: Journal of Necrotos and Arachnelixir.
Masteries and blessings
The listed setup is Invigorated and Pouncing Strike; fill in the rest per mode, since the author keeps separate PVE and PVP masteries. The logic is simple: lean into healing, survivability and accuracy, not damage. Blessings on a Rare are a low priority — take a defensive or supportive one if your available pool allows it.
Tombs
Book Elixirs of Life (A3) first: two of its levels cut the cooldown, and it is his whole kit. Then Noxious Catalysis (A2), though its cooldown cut sits on the last level — expensive for a Rare. If books are tight, stopping at A3 is fine.
Verdict
A narrow but honest Rare support: worth levelling, he pays for himself on the Clan Boss — just do not expect miracles anywhere else.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
