Axeman — guide
Guide: Axeman
In short
Axeman is a Common Banner Lords champion with the HP role and Force affinity. His only skill hits one enemy, has a 30% chance to place Accuracy Down 25% for 1 turn, and scales its damage off Defence. Overall rating is 1.0 out of 5 and the author's verdict is blunt: food. There is no stage of the game where investing in him pays off.
Strengths
- He brings a genuinely useful debuff — Accuracy Down 25% can blunt an enemy debuffer on turn one.
- Force affinity gives him an edge against Spirit enemies in the very early game.
- Defence-based damage is unusual for a Common champion, even if he has no way to use it.
- He drops often, so filling an empty slot in the first campaign stages is easy.
Weaknesses
- Low base stats: 92 SPD, 507 ATK, 694 DEF — he neither hits nor survives.
- The HP role clashes with Defence-based damage, so there is no coherent way to gear him.
- One skill, no passive, no AoE, no utility beyond a weak debuff.
- The debuff is only a 30% chance and he has no base Accuracy, so it will not land reliably.
Where to use
His best scores are Dungeons 1.0, Hard 1.0 and Chimera 1.0 — which still only means "filler for the first campaign stages". He sits at 0.5 for Clan Boss, Hydra, Arena, Doom Tower and Faction Wars, so there is no mode where he is wanted. In Banner Lords Faction Wars he can warm a slot on the earliest stages before you have real champions, but that is temporary at best.
Stats and gear
The author lists no recommended sets, and that makes sense — there is no reason to build him. If you absolutely must fill a slot in your first days, the priority is Speed (Speed, Perception sets) → DEF% → HP%, with Accuracy around 100 so the debuff occasionally lands. Rough early-PvE targets: 150+ SPD, 2000+ DEF, 30,000+ HP, 100+ ACC — and he will still be worse than any decent Rare.
Masteries and blessings
Do not spend masteries on him. Scrolls are a scarce resource and the return here is close to zero. If you insist, a generic Offence tree is the least bad option, but it is wasted effort. Blessings are even further out of reach — he will never survive long enough for them to matter.
Tomes
No tomes. Common champions level their skills from duplicates anyway, and burning books on a champion you will feed away is a straight loss. Save books for Epics and Legendaries.
Verdict
Axeman is pure food: one weak skill, contradictory stats and low ratings across every mode. Feed him to your first real champions and move on.
