Herold — guide
Guide: Herold
In short
Herold is an Uncommon Spirit support whose entire kit is a single 30% Increase C.RATE buff plus a weak speed debuff on his A1. The site author's call is blunt: fodder — feeding him into real content makes no sense, and at best he fills a star in Faction Wars.
Strengths
- His A2 grants one ally 30% Increase C.RATE for 2 turns, which helps an early damage dealer reach the C.RATE cap without great gear.
- Tomes cut that A2 cooldown twice, so the buff can be kept almost permanently on a single target.
- Spirit affinity means no awkward affinity disadvantage in most early content.
- Uncommon rarity: cheap to book, but that is also the only thing cheap about him.
Weaknesses
- No heal, shield, cleanse or revive — as a support he is nearly empty: one buff and nothing else.
- The A1's 15% Decrease SPD (20% fully booked) lasts only 1 turn and practically never lands.
- Weak base stats: 99 SPD and 848 DEF, so he dies fast while giving the team nothing.
- No ACC in his base kit, and building accuracy for a 1-turn debuff is a waste.
Where to use
Faction Wars is his only 1.0/5 area, and even there he is a warm body to fill a star slot rather than a working support. Everywhere else he sits at 0.5/5 — Clan Boss, Hydra, Chimera, Arena, dungeons, Hard mode and Doom Tower. He contributes nothing in Clan Boss or Arena, and in dungeons/Hard he is dead weight. Keep one copy for Faction Wars and stop there.
Stats and gear
If you do drag him into Faction Wars: priority is SPD, then HP% and DEF%. Rough targets: 170–200 SPD, HP% on chest and gloves, SPD boots, as much HP as you can stack. Sets — Speed, Perception, Immortal. Skip ACC entirely; the debuff lasts 1 turn and rarely procs. C.RATE and C.DMG are pointless on him — he deals no damage.
Masteries and blessings
Do not spend scrolls. If Faction Wars is the only reason, take the Support tree (cooldown-reduction and set-bonus nodes) plus a few Defense points for survival. Warmaster or Giant Slayer in Offense are wasted — he will not be hitting anything. Blessings: do not spend a single resource on fodder.
Tomes
Don't book him at all; the books have better homes. If you absolutely must, do the A2 first — the two cooldown reductions are the only upgrade that changes anything (better buff uptime). Booking the A1 for +5% proc chance twice is not worth a single tome.
Verdict
Fodder is fodder: one decent buff cannot carry a kit with no heal, no cleanse and weak base stats. Keep one copy for Faction Wars and feed the rest.
