Quaestor — guide
Guide: Quaestor
In short
Quaestor is a Rare Attack champion of the Banner Lords with Force affinity. His only real tools are a buff strip and a team Crit. DMG buff, so he belongs in the Arena and Faction Wars rather than PvE content. Build priority is low: level him only if you are filling out the faction or need a cheap stripper.
Strengths
- Depletion (A3) has a 75% chance to remove 2 random buffs from the target — a usable tool against Shields, DEF Up and SPD Up in the Arena.
- Example to Follow (A2) grants the whole team +15% C.DMG for 2 turns when it crits — a small but team-wide buff.
- Brave Attack (A1) deals 30% more critical damage while Quaestor is below 50% HP, so he can occasionally finish a target.
- Cheap and easy to obtain as a Rare, and he does not need exotic gear to function.
- Force affinity lines up well against blue Magic targets in the Arena.
Weaknesses
- Weak base stats: 1 288 ATK and 95 SPD — he is both slow and hits softly.
- Every skill is plain ATK-based damage with no multipliers worth building around, so dungeons, Hydra and Hard mode are wasted on him (1.0 out of 5 each).
- No protection, no healing, no control: 13 215 HP and 859 DEF means he folds to the first focus fire.
- The buff strip is chance-based and random — the buff you actually need may stay on the target.
Where to use
Arena first (2.5/5): a targeted strip plus a C.DMG buff for the team. Then Clan Boss and Chimera (2.0), but only early on, as a debuffer/support. Faction Wars and Doom Tower (1.5) if you are short on Banner Lords bodies. Dungeons, Hard mode and Hydra (1.0) are not his content — he just occupies a slot there.
Stats and gear
Priority: SPD → ACC → ATK/crit. Rough targets: SPD 170–200, ACC 200+ for Arena, C.RATE 100%, C.DMG 150%+, then ATK with whatever is left. Sets: Speed and Accuracy as the base, Offense or Fury if you want damage, Lifesteal for PvE survivability.
Masteries and blessings
Go into the Attack tree for Pierce Defenses — the one mastery that genuinely raises his damage. Fill the rest in Support (Accuracy, Speed) or Defense (HP, DEF) so he survives the opening hit. Recommended relic: Malefic Talon. Blessings on a Rare are not worth the essence — invest only if you actually play him.
Tombs
Full booking costs 16 Rare Tomes, and per the site's verdict that is not worth it. If you do feed him books: max Depletion (A3) to level 6 first, which pushes the strip chance to 100%, then levels 7–8 for the cooldown reduction. Take Example to Follow to level 6 for the -1 turn cooldown.
Verdict
Food. Keep one copy in the Vault for faction content, but put your tomes, gear and masteries into someone else.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
