Guide: Ranger

In short

Ranger is a Common Attack champion of the Outlaws faction with Force affinity — a starter archer with only two skills: a single-target shot with a chance to place a 15% Speed debuff and an AoE volley. His ratings sit around 1/5 in every area, and the site author's verdict is blunt: food. Build priority: none — his job is to become rank-up material.

Strengths

  • The first skill can place a 15% Speed debuff for 2 turns, which occasionally matters in the very first campaign chapters.
  • The second skill hits all enemies, so at low levels he can clear early campaign waves.
  • Force affinity gives him an edge against Spirit enemies in the starting locations.
  • Cheap and fast to level, and nothing is wasted when you finally feed him.

Weaknesses

  • Poor base stats — 815 ATK and 92 SPD at 6★ — with low damage multipliers.
  • No aura, no buffs, no debuff protection and no self-sustain.
  • The debuff chance is only 20% (30% with books) on a single target, so you can never rely on it.
  • Skill upgrades only add damage and a small chance increase, apart from -1 cooldown on the second skill — very little value.

Where to use

At best the first campaign chapters and filling an empty Faction Wars slot while you have nothing better. He does not hold up in Dungeons, Arena, Hydra or Doom Tower, and in Clan Boss and Chimera he is useless — 0.5/5 is a fair score. Do not bring him to high difficulty content.

Stats and gear

There is no recommended build for him, and gearing Ranger is a waste. If he is temporarily carrying your campaign: Speed boots, C.RATE gloves, ATK% chest. Rough targets — 150–170 SPD, C.RATE close to 100%, ATK as high as possible, and 100–130 ACC if you actually want the Speed debuff to land. Sets: Speed as the base, then Attack or Perception for accuracy.

Masteries and blessings

Offense tree: Deadly Precision, Keen Strike, Heart of Glory, then Warmaster or Giant Slayer only if you are truly desperate. Skip blessings entirely — on a Common champion they are wasted resources. The Defense tree will not save him; he dies to any sneeze anyway.

Tomes

Do not book Ranger. Even fully booked down to -1 cooldown on the AoE, his damage stays negligible, and tomes belong on champions you will keep. Keep him as food.

Verdict

A textbook starter archer whose only purpose is to become rank-up material. Spend no gear, masteries or tomes on him.
