Seneschal — guide
Guide: Seneschal
In short
Seneschal is an Epic Banner Lords defender with Force affinity: an AoE Provoke plus a self Counterattack, and he hands an ally a Veil buff and Regeneration 15%. He shines mainly in Faction Wars and as an annoying Arena tank; everywhere else he is average. Build him for Defense and Accuracy — without Accuracy his Provoke and Parasite simply will not land.
Strengths
- Noble Duel — Counterattack on himself for 2 turns and a 50% chance (up to 100% with books) to Provoke all enemies for 1 turn.
- Enshroud — gives one ally a Veil buff plus Regeneration 15%, so a shield and a heal in a single slot.
- Bloody Mace scales off Defense (2.6×DEF + 2×ATK) and has a 30% chance to place Parasite for 2 turns, so he is not dead weight on damage.
- Force affinity — comfortable against Magic teams, which often decides a Faction Wars run.
- Faction Wars 4/5 is his best content, and as an Epic he is cheap to book and duplicate.
Weaknesses
- Average ratings across the board: overall 2.5/5, Clan Boss 3.0, Dungeons 2.0, Hard mode 1.0.
- Provoke lasts only 1 turn, and the Counterattack is self-only, not team-wide.
- Base DEF 1,266 and HP 19,980 are modest for a tank — do not expect miracles in survivability.
- Enshroud is single-target; he brings no AoE shields and no cleanse.
Where to use
Start with Faction Wars (4/5) — his Provoke and Veil genuinely carry waves there. Next is Clan Boss (3.0), where the self Counterattack gives extra Mace swings and Parasite chips in damage. Arena and Hydra (2.5) — a tank that pulls focus, though one turn of Provoke is unreliable. Chimera, Doom Tower and regular Dungeons (2.0) are leftovers. Hard mode (1.0) is not his fight at all.
Stats and gear
Priority: DEF% → HP% → SPD → ACC. Rough targets: DEF around 2,500–3,000 with bonuses, HP 40,000+, SPD 170–200 so Provoke and Enshroud keep cycling, ACC 200+ for Parasite and Provoke in harder content, leftovers into Resistance. From the author's build list run Frostbite; fill the rest with stat pieces carrying DEF% and Speed so the numbers do not fall apart.
Masteries and blessings
The listed masteries are Invigorated, Survival Speed, Targetfinder and Unflinching — a survivability base with the Accuracy needed to land his debuffs. Around them, round out the defensive and support trees for damage reduction and debuff reliability. No blessing is listed, so pair the build with the Golden Elixir or Orb of Transfixion relic depending on the fight.
Tombs
Book Noble Duel first: books take the Provoke chance from 50% to 100% and cut the cooldown, and that skill is the whole reason to bring him. Second priority is Enshroud for its two cooldown reductions, so Veil and Regeneration stay up more often.
Verdict
Vault (fusion) — an average Epic, a reasonable Arena tank and a serviceable Faction Wars pick. Do not invest in him for hard content.
Build
The build is a guideline: the first sets in the list fit most often. Adapt it to your artifacts and goals.
