Guide: Shadow of the Sun

In short

Shadow of the Sun is an Uncommon Orc support with Magic affinity whose only real trick is a weak single-target heal. The site verdict is blunt: food — he doesn't reach even 1 out of 5 anywhere except Faction Wars. Build priority: none, give the gear, masteries and tomes to literally anyone else.

Strengths

  • A1 "Signature Axes" hits an enemy and heals him for 10% of the damage dealt — a bit of self-sustain in the very first solo stages.
  • A2 "Spirit's Judgement" heals an ally for 10% of that ally's MAX HP and has a 40% chance to place a 7.5% Regen for 1 turn.
  • The one place he means anything is Orc Faction Wars (1 out of 5), and only while you have no better team.
  • Costs nothing: any leftover HP gear works, and pushing him to 5★ just for a FW slot is optional.

Weaknesses

  • Ratings of 0.5 out of 5 almost everywhere: Clan Boss, Hydra, Chimera, Arena, dungeons, Hard mode, Doom Tower.
  • The heal is tiny — 10% of the target's MAX HP — and A2 sacrifices 10% of his own HP, so with a small health pool he can kill himself.
  • A 7.5% Regen for 1 turn at 40% chance is a buff you will barely notice.
  • No team buffs, no debuffs, no control; 95 SPD is among the slowest, so he rarely gets a turn.
  • A2 sits on a 5-turn cooldown (3 after upgrades), so he heals very rarely.

Where to use

By ratings: Faction Wars (1/5) is the only slot he can fill, and only at low stages before you have other Orcs. Everything else is a flat 0.5 — Clan Boss, Hydra, Chimera, Arena, dungeons, Hard mode and Doom Tower. Practical answer: use him nowhere, feed him for rank-ups or as a star for another champion's ascension.

Stats and gear

There is no recommended build list, which fits — there is nothing worth investing in. If you absolutely must fill an FW slot: HP% gloves and chest, SPD boots, Life / Speed / Immortal sets, and the goal is simply surviving a couple of turns. Accuracy is pointless — every effect he has is a buff on your own team, so ACC is never checked. Stacking SPD past roughly 170–180 for a heal this small is a waste.

Masteries and blessings

  • Mastery scrolls are scarce; do not spend them on Shadow of the Sun — he rarely lives long enough for masteries to matter.
  • If you truly have nowhere else to put them, the Support tree with healing boosts such as Lay on Hands is the least bad pick.
  • Blessings are equally wasted here: save awakening resources for champions you actually play.

Tombs

Do not spend tomes. On paper A2 "Spirit's Judgement" gets −1 cooldown at levels 3 and 4, but that is the only useful upgrade — and it is not worth tomes that epics and legendaries need.

Verdict

Food, no caveats: weak heal, low speed, 0.5 ratings across the board except a technical Faction Wars slot. Feed him for rank-ups and don't look back.
