Marksman — guide
Guide: Marksman
In short
Marksman is an Epic Attack champion of the High Elves with Spirit affinity. He is an average Epic: he shows up on the Arena thanks to a +32% DEF aura for allies, and against the Clan Boss, where crits land Poison and he occasionally takes an extra turn. Build him for ATK, C.RATE/C.DMG and SPD — but don't over-invest.
Strengths
- Venom Arrow places a 5% Poison for 2 turns on a critical hit and has a 15% chance to grant an extra turn.
- Direct Hit fills all allies' Turn Meters by 20% and grants +15% C.RATE.
- Thorns hits random targets 4 times, each hit with a 25% chance to ignore DEF (35% after upgrades).
- Arena Defense aura: +32% DEF to allies — genuinely useful on defensive teams.
Weaknesses
- 98 SPD and 1,432 ATK: slow and not a heavy hitter for an Attack champion.
- 892 DEF and 14,700 HP — he drops fast when focused.
- Thorns is random, so there is no target focus, and he has no big boss multiplier.
- Books give little return; even fully booked he stays mid-tier.
Where to use
Best fit is the Arena (3/5): put him on a defense team for the aura, and Direct Hit helps the whole team cycle faster. Second is the Clan Boss (3/5), where Poison from his A1 and the extra turns add a modest but steady gain. In Dungeons, Hydra, Chimera, Hard mode and Doom Tower (2/5 each) he is passable at best, and in Faction Wars (2.5/5) he is just a body to fill a High Elves team.
Stats and gear
Priority: C.RATE to 100% → ATK → C.DMG → SPD. Rough targets: SPD 170–200, ATK 3,000+, C.RATE 100%, C.DMG 150%+, ACC 150–200 if you want the Poison to stick on the boss. Sets: Speed, Perception and attack/crit damage sets; add one defensive set if he keeps dying.
Masteries and blessings
Attack tree with Pierce Defenses, Pouncing Strike and Boss Slayer — all about damage. On top of that take the standard crit nodes and Warmaster for boss damage. Blessings: a damage blessing such as Cruelty or Phantom Touch if you must, but he is not worth heavy investment. Relics from the build: Irethi Coronet, Arachnelixir.
Tomes
If you book him at all, do Thorns first: cooldown -1, +30% damage and +10% ignore chance. Then Direct Hit for the cooldown reduction. The site author's advice is simple: don't dump tomes into him.
Verdict
An average Epic who lives off his aura and Poison. Gear him with leftovers and keep him in the vault — he is mainly fusion material.
