Guide: Clan Boss

In short

The Clan Boss — the Demon Lord — is a daily clan raid: every member attacks their own Demon Lord with keys, damage is pooled per boss, and chests are handed out at reset. It is the main source of Epic and Legendary skill books, Ancient, Void and Sacred shards, gems — and of the Relentless and Immortal artefact sets. Hit it every day; nothing else in the game pays out this consistently.

Mechanics

  • Six difficulties: Easy, Normal, Hard, Brutal, Nightmare and Ultra-Nightmare. Each unlocks after your clan kills the previous one, and every boss heals back to full at reset.
  • One key every 6 hours, so up to four fights a day if you spend them on time; extra keys cost 100 gems.
  • Every fight is capped at 50 turns — that ceiling is your damage budget, so what matters is damage per turn, not endless survival.
  • The single-target hit lands a Stun and scales off the boss's MAX HP. That Stun is what quietly ruins runs: plan for Block Debuffs or a cleanse.
  • An AoE hit that stacks Poison on the whole team.
  • A second, heavier AoE hit on everyone.
  • Its damage-reduction passive cuts damage from Poison, HP Burn and MAX-HP-based skills, and grants immunity to Freeze, Stun, Sleep, Decrease SPD, Turn Meter reduction and HP swap.
  • Its rage passive means that from roughly turn 10 all of its skills hit harder, and from around turn 20 the ramp gets steeper.
  • Only 10 debuffs can sit on the boss at once — extras push out the ones you actually need.
  • Affinity varies (Void, Magic, Spirit or Force). Off-affinity heroes land weak hits and struggle to place debuffs, so check the boss before you commit.

What your team needs

  • ACC: about 130–170 for Hard, 170–220 for Brutal, 220–260 for Nightmare, 250–300 for Ultra-Nightmare. Below that, Poison and Decrease DEF keep getting resisted.
  • SPD: 170–200 for a budget pile, 220–280 for speed and Block Damage setups.
  • Survivability: 30–45k HP and 2.5–3k+ DEF on your damage dealers, or Poison and the AoEs wipe you before turn 20.
  • Damage: Poison, HP Burn, Decrease DEF, Weaken, MAX-HP damage, multi-hit A1s.
  • Control: Decrease ATK, Block Debuffs, cleanse, heals, Shield, Block Damage, Ally Protection, Counterattack, Ally Attack, debuff extension.
  • Masteries: Warmaster on single-hit A1s, Giant Slayer on multi-hit A1s — they are a huge share of your total damage.

Teams

Starter (Easy–Hard): Kael, Frozen Banshee, Rearguard Sergeant, Doompriest, Pain Keeper. Two poisoners carry the damage, Rearguard Sergeant brings Decrease ATK/DEF and Ally Protection, Doompriest cleanses the Stun and keeps everyone topped up.

Mid-game (Brutal–Nightmare): Geomancer, Fayne, Fahrakin the Fat, Skullcrusher, Godseeker Aniri. Geomancer turns HP Burn into real numbers, Fayne stacks Decrease DEF and Weaken, Fahrakin adds Ally Attack and HP Burn, Skullcrusher answers every AoE with Counterattack, Aniri keeps the run alive.

Endgame (Ultra-Nightmare): Demytha, Seeker, Geomancer, Fayne, Cardiel. Demytha and Seeker keep a Block Damage rotation going so the boss's ramping damage never lands, while the damage dealers push into the 50-turn cap. Classic alternative: Maneater with Pain Keeper in an unkillable shell.

Common mistakes

  • Stacking four or five poisoners: the 10-debuff cap fills with Poison and Decrease DEF or Weaken never stick.
  • Leaving it on auto with default priorities — cleanses fire early, healers spam A1, the Stun goes straight through.
  • Hitting a boss where you only reach a low chest instead of the one your clan is actually about to kill.
  • Running 120–150 ACC on Nightmare and wondering where the damage went.

Tips

  • Lifesteal on your damage dealers plus Warmaster is the cheapest way to survive to turn 30–40.
  • Relentless and Immortal belong on heroes who already heal themselves or sit in a healing team — otherwise they are just stats.
  • Toxic and Stun sets are a legit budget option for a poisoner, but never at the cost of an ACC main stat.
  • Play the first ten turns manually to get every debuff up: that is the window where the boss is still harmless.
  • Go last in the day on the boss your clan is about to kill — finishing a boss pays out more than chipping a fresh one.

Clan Boss mechanics description

One of the interesting and useful locations in Raid: Shadow Legends is the battle with the Clan Boss. The Clan Boss possesses such power that it can only be defeated through the joint efforts of all clan members, where each contributes their share of the damage dealt. Naturally, the more damage a player's team can deal to the Clan Boss, the more valuable they are in the clan. The reward the player receives also depends on the damage dealt, which we will discuss below.

To participate in a battle with the Clan Boss, firstly, you must be a member of a clan, and secondly, you must have the so-called key. If a player has zero or one key, then an additional one will be generated within six hours. That is, theoretically, if you use the keys in time (hit the CB), then in a day you can take part in a battle with the Clan Boss four times. Keys can also be purchased in the Shop for 100 rubies, obtained for participating in various Events and Tournaments, and also received as a reward from the developers, for example, after maintenance work or on the occasion of a holiday.

In Raid: Shadow Legends there are 6 types of Clan Bosses. Depending on their difficulty mode, they are named — Easy, Normal, Hard, Brutal, Nightmare, and Ultra Nightmare. Each subsequent difficulty boss is only available after defeating the previous one. That is, if through the combined efforts of clan members the Easy boss is destroyed, then on all subsequent days the Normal Clan Boss will also become available to all clan members, and upon defeating the Normal one — Hard will unlock, and so on. All destroyed Clan Bosses restore their health the next day. Each Clan Boss initially has the Void element, which changes to a random element (Magic, Spirit, or Force) after losing 50% of its health.

Rewards

At the end of the game day, every clan member who deals damage to one or more bosses receives a game chest as a reward. If the Clan Boss is defeated, the player receives two chests for each defeated Clan Boss. Clan Boss updates and chest distribution occur at 10 AM UTC.

Currently, there are 12 types of chests in the game, from the simplest Warrior's Chest to the most coveted by players — the Transcendent Chest. Depending on their tier, chests can contain Rubies, Shards, unique artifacts, silver, and tomes. Moreover, artifacts drop from Savage and Immortal sets, and the Clan Boss battle is the only place in the game where such sets can be obtained. But one of the most coveted resources that can be obtained from a chest are Ancient, Void, or Sacred Shards, as well as Epic and Legendary tomes for upgrading hero skills. They can be obtained from chests that drop after fighting the fourth Clan Boss and above.

An interesting feature is that chests such as Mythical, Divine, Celestial and Transcendent can only be obtained from the Ultra Nightmare Clan Boss. The Champion chest can only be obtained from the Nightmare Clan Boss. The remaining chests can be obtained from two different Clan Bosses.

Fighting the Clan Boss is an important daily element of the game, as it allows you to farm Ancient, Void, and Sacred Shards, and increases the chance of getting new top-tier Legendary and Epic heroes for your team. Earning additional Rubies and Tomes is also worthwhile, as they will significantly strengthen your team of heroes.

Demon Lord Description

First, let's look at what skills the Clan Boss — the Demon Lord — has, so we can effectively counter him.

Shatter. Attacks an enemy. Places a Stun debuff for 1 turn. This debuff cannot be resisted. The higher the enemy's MAX HP, the more damage this skill deals.

Flesh Withering. Attacks all enemies, places Poison for 2 turns.

Dark Strike. Attack on all enemies.

Demon's Resilience. Passive skill. Reduces damage from HP Burn, Poison, and skills that deal damage based on max HP.

Immunity to Freeze, Stun, Sleep and Decrease SPD debuffs, as well as Turn Meter reduction and HP exchange effects.

Rage Accumulation. Passive skill. Starting from turn 10, the damage of all skills increases by an equal amount and accumulates each turn. Starting from turn 20, the damage increases even more.

Effective damage

In order to deal damage to the Demon Lord as effectively as possible, we need heroes who can apply the following buffs and debuffs:

1) Poison debuffs and the HP Burn debuff.

2) Weaken and Decrease DEF.

3) Speed and counterattack buffs.

Heroes that have the ability to land multiple hits per turn, as well as heroes whose damage is based on the enemy's Max HP, will also be useful for dealing damage.

Survivability boost

To deal maximum damage to the Clan Boss, the survivability of the Heroes also remains important. The longer they live, the more damage they can deal to the enemy. To increase the survivability of a team of Heroes, the following buffs and debuffs are needed:

1) Decrease ATK and Leech.

2) Increase DEF, Revive on Death, Ally Protection, and Block Damage buffs.

Support heroes that can heal allies after taking damage, as well as heroes that can revive allies, will also be useful for increasing the team's survivability.

Hero Gear

The general rule for equipping Champions to fight the Clan Boss is to use a Lifesteal set to increase their survivability. An additional set, depending on the situation, can be either a Defense set, a Speed set (Speed set), or an Accuracy set if it is lacking.

Hero Masteries

The following masteries are useful against the Clan Boss: Bring It Down, Methodical, Giant Slayer, Swiftness, Warmaster, War Master, Sniper and others. Mandatory masteries: War Master, Giant Slayer.

Secrets in the fight against the Demon Lord

1) The Clan Boss cannot have more than 10 debuffs on him at the same time, so it's important, for example, not to overdo it with the number of Poisoners, so that all the necessary debuffs are placed on the Demon Lord.

2) Fighting the Clan Boss in manual mode will always be more effective than automatic. At the initial stage of the fight, it's better to deal as much damage as possible and heal the champions whose health bar is decreasing in time.

3) Always hit the Clan Boss from which you can take the last or second-to-last chest. Strive to be on the same level as the clan leaders so that you can kill the Clan Boss together.
