Guide: Ancient Priest
In short
The Ancient Priest is not a boss — it is one of Iragoth's minions on Doom Tower boss floors. It barely scratches your team, but its Block Active Skills debuff shuts down your support: no cleanse, no heal, no revive. You farm the floor for the tower's rewards — gear, silver, gems and shards — and the priests are usually what turns a simple fight into a long grind.
Mechanics
- Charged Bolt (A1): hits one champion and applies Block Active Skills for a couple of turns. While it sticks, that champion can only use its basic skill — no cleanse, no heal, no buffs.
- Soul Split (passive): when a priest dies from your team's actions, all of your skills get their cooldowns reset. In a normal fight that is a gift; in a speed-tuned setup it scrambles the whole rotation.
- The priests are not trying to kill you, they are stalling: every turn spent on a basic attack is a turn not spent damaging Iragoth.
- Their HP pool is far smaller than the boss's, so they drop fast — the question is when you let them drop.
What your team needs
- ACC 200–250+ on your debuffers (more on the upper floors), otherwise Decrease DEF and Weaken simply do not land.
- Speed: support wants 200+ SPD so it can act between the debuff applications; damage dealers can be slower.
- Survivability: roughly 45–55k HP or 3k+ DEF on support so the priests' basic hits do not push through.
- Cleanse and Block Debuffs: remove Block Active Skills or stop it from ever landing.
- Your own debuffs: Decrease DEF, Weaken, Poison and HP Burn to kill the priests quickly and keep the fight short.
Teams
- Budget: Kael, Geomancer, Stag Knight, Doompriest, Deacon Armstrong — Doompriest's passive keeps the team clean, Stag Knight and Deacon Armstrong bring Decrease DEF and turn meter, Kael and Geomancer supply the damage.
- Mid-game: Royal Guard, Fahrakin the Fat, Godseeker Aniri, Dhukk the Pierced, Venomage — Royal Guard and Fahrakin the Fat carry the damage, Dhukk the Pierced and Venomage keep Decrease DEF and poisons rolling, Godseeker Aniri heals and revives through the debuff.
- Endgame: Gnut, Marius the Gallant, Underpriest Brogni, Mithrala Lifebane, Duchess Lilitu — Gnut and Marius the Gallant delete the priests and then the boss, Underpriest Brogni keeps shields up, Duchess Lilitu covers Block Debuffs and revive, Mithrala Lifebane adds Hex and extra poisons.
Common mistakes
- Running a Block Damage or Unkillable composition with a strict rotation: the priest's passive resets cooldowns and breaks the tune.
- Playing without a cleanse — champions sit on their basic attack and you lose a huge chunk of damage.
- Neglecting ACC: debuffs miss, the fight drags, and the priests keep reapplying Block Active Skills.
- Killing the priests whenever it happens instead of planning it: the cooldown reset arrives at the worst possible moment.
Tips
- Cleanse the debuff instead of waiting for it to expire.
- Sets: Lifesteal on damage dealers, Speed and Perception on support, Immortal for extra bulk, Toxic if you want more damage on the boss.
- Masteries: accuracy and survivability for support, boss damage and finishing blows for your nukers.
- On auto-battle, switch off the useless skills on your support so they do not waste a turn.
- Clear the priests first and only then switch to Iragoth — that way the cooldown reset lands at the start of your rotation.
