Guide: Tag Team Arena

In short

Tag Team Arena is a 3v3 PvP mode where you build three teams and fight another player’s three teams in a single battle, switching (tagging) between your teams on the fly. It’s the main source of weekly arena chests with gems, shards and arena tokens, and the best place to test team synergy beyond a single lineup.

Mechanics

  • You set up three separate teams before the fight. Each team keeps its own skills, cooldowns and buffs/debuffs when tagged in or out.
  • During battle you can switch between your teams; switching has a cooldown, so you can’t spam tags. The enemy AI also has three teams and will tag when needed.
  • You win by defeating all three enemy teams. If one of your teams is wiped, you must tag in another; if you have no teams left, you lose.
  • Turn order and speed matter per team: a fast team can open with control, then you tag to a slower nuker to finish.
  • Some effects persist across tags (e.g., debuffs on the enemy), but buffs on your benched team may tick down or expire; plan your swaps around key cooldowns.

What your team needs

  • Speed: every team needs a speed lead or high SPD gear; aim for 250+ SPD on your fastest team, 200+ on the others (higher for endgame).
  • Accuracy: debuffers need 200–300 ACC to land decrease DEF, weaken, block revive, block buffs, heal reduction and crowd control.
  • Survivability: HP/DEF on tanks and supports; 40k+ HP and 2.5k+ DEF on defensive teams is a good target.
  • Key effects: decrease DEF, weaken, block revive (to stop revivers), block buffs (to strip immunity), heal reduction, cleanse, increase SPD, turn meter control, and crowd control (stun, freeze, provoke).
  • Diversity: don’t build three identical teams; have one speed/burst, one control/tank, one sustain/anti-revive.

Teams

  • Budget: Deacon Armstrong (lead), Seeker, Kael, Gala Longbraids — speed aura, turn meter boost and burst from Kael; Gala cleans up.
  • Budget control: Ursala the Mourner (lead), Madame Serris, Dhukk the Pierced, Skullcrown — Ursala revives and speeds up, Serris strips buffs, Dhukk applies decrease DEF/ATK, Skullcrown nukes.
  • Mid-game: Arbiter (lead), Madame Serris, Genbo the Dishonored, Skullcrown — Arbiter boosts SPD and revives, Serris strips, Genbo ignores block damage, Skullcrown finishes.
  • Endgame: Warlord (lead), Queen of Hearts, Pheidi Tealcrest, Tetsuya the Deliverer — Warlord locks skills, Queen of Hearts controls, Pheidi and Tetsuya deliver damage.
  • Endgame sustain: Siphi the Lost Bride (lead), Mithrala Lifebane, Soulless, Marichka the Unbreakable — heavy cleanse, sustain and provoke; very hard to kill.

Common mistakes

  • Ignoring speed on your second and third teams; only the first team is fast, and the others get outsped and controlled.
  • Building three glass-cannon teams with no cleanse or revive; one enemy control team can chain-wipe you.
  • Tagging at the wrong time: switching out a team with key cooldowns ready, or tagging in a team that’s still on cooldown.
  • Neglecting ACC on debuffers, so your decrease DEF and block revive get resisted.

Tips

  • Play manually: auto-battle often wastes tags and key skills; time your switches to counter enemy threats.
  • Put a speed aura on each team’s lead if possible, and use Speed and Accuracy sets on debuffers, Lifesteal or Immortal on tanks.
  • Masteries: take Eagle Eye (ACC) on debuffers, Steel Skull or similar survivability masteries on tanks; Warmaster/Giant Slayer for damage.
  • Use Block Revive and Heal Reduction against teams with revivers or heavy healing (e.g., Siphi, Ursala).
  • Save one control or cleanse team to tag in when the enemy’s nuker is about to go; don’t burn all cooldowns on the first team.
