Guide: Live Arena

In short

Live Arena is RAID's real-time PvP mode: you draft against a live human, ban one of their champions, then fight 4v4 with no AI on either side. Rewards come from Live Arena chests and end-of-season rank payouts — gear, accessories, shards and resources. It's the one mode where reading the opponent's draft matters as much as your builds, and where a well-picked ban wins the match before the first turn.

Mechanics

  • Draft: both players pick five champions from their own roster, and the enemy picks are visible as they land.
  • Ban: each side removes one enemy champion, leaving 4v4.
  • Real-time turns: no auto-battle; every decision runs on a visible turn timer, and hesitation gets punished.
  • Speed decides the opening: turn order and turn-meter effects set up the first exchange, which usually settles the match.
  • Seasons and ranks: climbing the ladder improves the chest quality and the season payout.

What your team needs

  • A booster with a SPD aura: 300+ SPD at mid ranks, 350+ higher up. Lose the race and the rest of the fight is damage control.
  • ACC on whoever lands the debuffs: roughly 300–450+ depending on tier, or your Decrease DEF and Block Buffs simply get resisted.
  • Nukers at 100% CR and 200%+ CD, with ignore-DEF or Savage-style gear to punch through Stoneskin.
  • At least one reviver or real sustain — a single bad trade shouldn't end the match.
  • The right tools: Decrease DEF, Weaken, Block Buffs, Block Revive, Heal Reduction, a strip and a cleanse against control.

Teams

  • Budget: Deacon Armstrong (lead), Madame Serris, Genbo the Dishonored, Rector Drath — a speed aura plus strip and Decrease DEF feeding one nuke, with Rector Drath covering mistakes.
  • Mid-game: Arbiter (lead), Ursala the Mourner, Magnarr, Vogoth — Arbiter wins the race and revives, Ursala keeps DEF up with a second revive, Magnarr and Vogoth grind out long trades.
  • Endgame: Siphi the Lost Bride, Yumeko, Taras the Fierce, Warlord — Siphi handles speed and cleanse, Yumeko controls skill and cooldown flow, Taras carries the damage, Warlord shuts down enemy skills.

Common mistakes

  • Banning the nuker when the enemy booster was the real problem — kill the speed first.
  • Drafting four damage dealers; without a strip or a reviver you fold to the first control team.
  • Skipping ACC because "arena debuffs land anyway" — against real players with real RES, they don't.
  • Burning the turn timer on deliberation, then rushing the one decision that mattered.

Tips

  • Speed sets on the booster, Accuracy or Perception on the debuffer, Savage on the nuker, Stoneskin on the support you expect to be focused.
  • Relentless on a nuker steals games that should have been lost — extra turns break the trade math.
  • Read the draft: two early supports means a long fight, so bring Block Revive and Heal Reduction.
  • Test your opener in Classic Arena first; Live Arena punishes untested speed math.
  • Keep one champion who works without setup — a solo threat forces the enemy to spend their ban on it.
